The latter. Otherwise I'd be diagnosed with a Personality Disorder rather than Bipolar. Although I would probably meet several of the criteria for one PD or another on a bad day, but then so would everybody.
Which is not to say that 'me' disappears when the condition takes hold - it's just that when it does so, it can distort your perceptions so violently that to all intents and purposes, you become the disease.
Yeah as you can see im not too clued up on the subject haha :D I always just assumed Bipolar was a type of personality disorder. I know for someone well versed on the subject that seems ridiculous, but i never actually read into it.
So what differentiates Bipolar from a personality disorder? Because to me (a cunt with no clue on the subject) it seem as if the Bipolar is part of your personality.
Im gonna leave it at that because im sure these questions are so basic to you that its frustrating someone can be so clueless on the subject.
