i'm a sucker for epic trance anthems and the breakdown at 5:26 in this track is one of the biggest and best i can think of - it builds up from about 90 seconds before that:

happy friday people.

Not much for me, had a few beers while trying to decide whether to stay put where I live at the minute or move on to pastures new. Or maybe save and go travelling. Decisions decisions.

Helllooo!

Lovely miserable grey day today. Beers and GTA for snolly once I've gone and got all my fucking pharmacy refunds done. Hope it doesn't take as much fannying about as getting the actual prescription does or I might actually lose it.

Morning fg, cheers for the Spiritualized vid, hadn't seen that before. Cheery stuff to start the day with. ;)

I once took mushrooms at a very loud gig. The titinus afterwards was weird as hell. It was playing trippy tunes inside my head and keeping me awake for hours. 8( Being so tripped out and that was probably the first time i had titunus after a gig i had no idea wtf was going on (i was only 16 or something.) Nowadays it seems most bands dont have everything cranked up so loud as to cause that, and they get the volume correct for the size of venue, but there are allways exceptions though.

Yeah, proper shows, even metal shows, are usually professionally equalised to match the acoustics of the venue. It's the small independent gigs that often fall into the "everything up to 11" trap.

Very true that, come out of little raves before with tinitus cos of too much treble, shit sound engineering

Yeah in general. But nowadays even small independent 'up and coming' bands tend to be extremely professional and have highly professional people getting the sound right. Stiff Little Fingers who have been around for 35 years or something, at Manchester's Academy 1 had my ears ringing for about a week. That is a fairly enormous venue, and is the maximum size venue i go to, i prefer smaller more intimate venues, but it seems they had everything set up for stadium levels, not that ive ever been to a stadium gig, but in those they are meant to be so loud that you can feel the bass going through your body. 8o

Your surprised about that? small dubstep nights here will rattle and vibrate your tits off

After two consecutive nights of My Bloody Valentine at the Apollo, I felt as if I'd been in several fights. I could also hear cars passing about half a mile away, as clearly as if it were a few feet.

I think two people passed out at the last Swans gig in Manchester, though that may have been partly due to the fact they always turn off the air conditioning. They've famously made people vomit from the bass vibrations before though.

Obviously these are exceptions and it's more or less understood that if you turn up without earplugs you're going to damage your hearing. There are always one or two people who are unaware though. It can be fun to watch them flee. :)
