Indeed. Dogmatic atheists are usually much, much more frightening and immediately dangerous than many religious zealots out there. Worst of all, they tend to believe they have science on their side (when they actually don't), and their idea of 'science' is infinitely more infallible and unquestionable than the zealot's 'god'.

Plus they're invariably crashing bores too.

I was quite a hard line atheist for a while, then I realised what an ignorant and arrogant twat I sounded. Im more agnostic now, maybe with a pinch of atheism still present. Im a work in progress ;) ( on lots of things when I think about it )

I've come to realise that whatever the truth, its all pretty irrelevant anyway, just get on with your life, be kind, be thoughtful, be good..! With or without a god/s it can and is done.
 
If ya get it mate u have to flush it or get ready to a ride that is far worse than the one before. Thats the way it goes. :\

Vague question here mostly directed at Raas: Do religious types appreciate it when agnostic/atheist types 'join in' when required or do they find it more sort of awkward? I guess if you don't broadcast your belief or lack of or ambiguity toward then it wouldn't really matter, but like I was at a funeral not so long ago and basically had to sort of follow along a bit behind everyone else for everything but the Lord's prayer, which I will never forget til the day I die. Maybe some of it was just funeral experience (I've been to two) but some of them came in and did all this praying and what not, which I didn't do. Like do you look at us praying with you at dinner or at a service and think 'god what an idiot' or? I mean I assume not and I would rather join in than stand there like 'no fuck you I don't believe in this' but...
 
Sadly it is the most hard thing to do, people who tried PV knows that. I my self only managed to thrash PV once, and that was because my now X gf(she was my world, and still mean loads to me) was going to leave me etc etc
And even there I was thinkin of just not trash it and take it. 8(

I know what you mean Snolly, is it best to join in when you dont know the words or keep a 'dignified silence' if that doesnt sound too pompous. Ive met many religious people and have found it best to avoid talking about the subject all together, as things seem to get 'hot under the collar' very quickly if you dont share their beliefs. The most recent religious person i met was telling me that i would go to hell when i died if i dint believe in god and jesus, and that just living according to my own conscience was in no way good enough. I strongly disagreed but kept my mouth shut.

Oh man that video is painfully hilarious. And yeah, you get your different...levels of religion telling the 'lesser' levels they're going to hell (check out the Phelps clan par example). I fortunately tend to maintain the 'dignified' silence; the type of Church-y situations I get myself into tend to have it all written down, but on the level of a small social gathering I've always wondered how it's viewed.

Also yeah PV, I can imagine it's hard to get shot of. Tried it a few times myself, did not trust myself with it and fortunately had no way of getting any more at the time.

edit: I just goatse'd my ex (not in person) and it's still funny like ten years later if someone hasn't seen it. She'd been whining about how much it hurts to shit after taking codeine, so personalised greetings card a-go!

yeah thats bollocks there is something spiritual about landscapes and nature and the sun and stuff like that. I guess i am a Pagan, what makes more sense than worshipping the sun, the bringer of all life and warmth, drinking, being merry and shagging ?

Catholicism and Christianity seem to have been used to create guilt about sexual feelings for example, it's a sin and all that, and scaring the peasants about the Wrath Of God just to keep them in their place throughout history.
