Ive just done one of his crazy knots using my washing line on my back gate latch, and it actually worked, i couldnt tie a proper knot other than the shoe lace kknot to save my life before, his programs really are useful, cunts keep coming in to my backyard and opening my shed to freak me out. I had the bin weighing down the latch but its bin night tonight. So far they have stolen 1 set of gardening gloves. FFS. Very ambitious criminals these, dont want to make things easy for them, since i weighed down the gate latch they havent been back.

Ditto. Shame I couldn't stand biology during school, I bet marine biology would be an interesting job.

During my last year of uni I'm going to fire off as many emails/phone calls as possible to people who are involved in travel + animals. I'd love to tag along to a BBC film crew when they do a wildlife doc, even if I was just an errand boy. So long as food + accommodation was paid for I wouldn't care for the money. Unrealistic idea indeed.
 
In Australia there is a gigantic over supply and over generation of marine biology graduates, there simply are no where near enough jobs for them all. It seems such a waste to me, to provide all these useless courses that wont be of any practical use to the vast majority of student studying the subject. There's gonna be a lot very disappointed and disullisioned marine biology students. I know the feeling only too well.
 
for people looking to work abroad, apparently it's very easy to go to China and teach English. Often you don't need any qualifications, I have a friend who moved there a year or two ago and is now settled with a long term girlfriend, earning decent money.
 
MDb - I HATED the math componant of IT degree n FAILED!!! Ended up having a HNC which was nothing. So used the credits towards my Psychology degree which I did with the Open University. We had to learn c++ the first but was easy enough but the arrays were a bloody nightmare - for that reason my HNC was Business Information Technology rather than computing. Still. C++ was much easier than visual basic but that may be as I have an eyesight problem that I found non-visual (coding) programing easier than visual.

Mind you this was the year 2000!

But yeah math was a fkn pain in the ass.
 
Cant get my head around maths. good with words but maths just spins my brain

That's pretty interesting, I didn't think of it being so popular.

Free diving is growing fast in Australia and I'd love to give it a go for a week or two. Definitely want to do a diving holiday at some stage, Maldives somewhere like that.

I have a friend who has done exactly that.
He has been there for about 5-6 years now and he absolutey loves it and says that he never wants to come back & live in the UK again.
He is well paid and rents a nice flat and has also been able to buy another place in Manila as an investment property.He gets loads of travel done also & has been all over the place.

i just did a bit of snorkelling, was amazing just in knee deep to waist deep water the giant tropical fish in the ocean, they moved so suddenly though that every time anything appeared id be startled and swallow a mouthfull of australian sea water lol.
 
I've always been fascinated with sea/ marine life, there's something so beautiful and alien about it.

would love to go scuba diving somewhere nice with a lot of marine life.

My Dad used to tell me tales about beer factories, and that in order to prevent workers pilferring the beer they introduced a perk where the workers were allowed to drink all they wanted. Funnily enough most of them soon got tired of the free beer and didnt want it any more.
 
I see some of you are able to quote. Are you on your laptops because I'm still not able to do so on my iPhone. I could try the iPad but really cant be bothered lol. Were using bluelight's mobile layout on your iPhone or just the regular one?

Does bluelight automatically give you the mobile version if you visit from a smartphone?

We don't have factories on the East coast, except for money factories. And some beer factories.

I'm pretty sure COBOL programmers get paid an absolute fortune now, because there's so few of them still alive.. course, it's not all about the money.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I'm currently in a reasonably-paid but intensely boring job with absolutely no chat or banter, and it's killing me.

Aye, you just need to be a native English speaker, though a lot of the jobs want you to have a degree too. I took a weekend TEFL course a while back as it's something I fancy doing at some point.
