Gibberings CLV: Empathy is a Two Way Street

yeah i hated the way those things merged and forced you to merge email and youtube accounts. I cant post anything on youtube now without giving away my real name.
I know, I miss making snarky comments on youtube videos. Can't really be arsed jumping through hoops with Google+. :(

Unless i set up another account all over again, i did have a 2nd and 3rd account, bit its locked me out of both of them, cannot remember the pswds, cannot find a way to reset those accounts either:X

Yeah its annoying, for ages it keeps asking me to use my real name and all sorts of crap. gave in and used my real name, nothing to hide anyway all my stuff is linked up to it

Gotten used it though and starting to like it a bit, showing when people have responded to my comments or liked my comments or whatever

I deleted my google+ account. Way too intrusive. Best get in now whilst your still allowed to delete accounts. i ve heard they are going to make google plus mandatory if you have a gmail account in the future.

This is very true.

And yes I have been a victim of crimes etc too. I don't totally rule out punishment. But I would rather people were helped and had rehab etc. And even if you want to think about it selfishly; Most criminals will get out of jail and be part of society and people's neighbours etc. I'd rather they had been rehabilitated than just punished.

Nowhere near enough empathy in the world. All just my opinion

Ahh I hate computers. This is only half what I quoted and typed...it's always worth remembering that Hurt people hurt people. We're all a product of our environment/society, people aren't born "bad" or "evil". It's no coincidence that many people who have been abused/sexually abused go onto abuse (fact btw)

And to hell with the victim , stuff that they've worked hard for what they have, that people may have saved A LOT for something over a long time, stuff that there may may be stuff of sentimental value that can NEVER be replaced like photos of someone 's relative, now dead , who have brought them up. Nah hay ho let's forget the victims because these people need to be rehabilitated into society.

That theory is just WRONG on so many levels.

Just as holes can be blown in your theory of punishment, alot more in my opinion. Thats not to say people cant be held accountable for their crimes, however theres alot of social issues here as to why people feel the need to turn to crime which can be resolved better than 23 hour lockdown in a jail then tossed back out into society with no opportunities or tools to better themselves. Its a very complex issue... imo

You're the only person saying "to hell with the victim".

It's possible to be compassionate to the "victim" while also having an understanding of the "offender". It doesn't involve mental gymnastics.

My flat was broken into and my flatmate had his amplifier stolen, they took my electric shaver which wasn't worth anything. No doubt these were quickly sold for a few quid then the money used to buy drugs. I don't really think we were victims. The person who stole them wasn't setting out to hurt us, they just needed money that they didn't have.

I found it quite funny that they took my shaver. I was more freaked out that someone had been in the flat. But what freaked me out most was the police accusing me of committing the crime!

Finally, I have become a true EADDer. One of the drugs I'm being given in hospital requires plugging. :p

mom used to give me lots of plugged medicine as a child.
though none got me high, just lowered my temperature when ill
