Gibberings CLV: Empathy is a Two Way Street

Went to the sunday market today (cross between a car boot sale and normal market) and got this camera down from 30 to 12 euros. Been playing with it constantly and doesn't even have film or battery in yet =D. It makes really satisfying clink and clunk sounds.

It's not that hard to develop your own film, just needs a bit of space and an aptitude for playing with chemicals. I used to love my film cameras.. I find it interesting how photography took off once digital cameras and social media arrived.

this just had me lol

yeah, i love it with with digital cameras you can take thousands and thousands of pics, some of them are gonna be good and you can just delete the crap ones that didnt work for one reason or other. With film you only got 20 chances and each one had to be perfect and it was expensive at the time to buy and develop films. Digital cameras were a massive leap forward.

One of my housemates in Bristol was into developing his own films in the basement, i switched the light on to go down there, not knowing he was developing and ruined a project he'd been working hard on and invested a lot of time in. We were both gutted, but he didnt blame me as i didnt know he was down there working on his film developing.

He put a notice on the light switch from then onwards when he was developing film !

Digital photography has really made taking photos cheap & with phones having cameras on them it is so much easier for people to take photos anytime & anywhere as they usually have their phone with them wherever they go.
It is a great thing but like vinyl, film stills has its charms.

Call me a grumpy fucker (there's a chance I might be), but I intensely dislike the way people can't go about their lives without photographing/filming everything. I'd much rather people enjoyed the moment rather than concentrating on 'capturing' it.

I was only joking there Swampy.I love looking back at my photos from when I was a teenager at parties with all my old mates.
I can still remember those times but not as clearly as looking at pictures taken at the time.

Agreed. seen footage of people at gigs and stuff and theyre all filming it, a sea of phones. fuck that just enjoy the moment. ive recorded some stuff in the past but only a few minutes worth

i havent got many photos like that max, because it wasnt the done thing for everyone to take pics all the tiime then, like it is now. Shame really, as there were some good times. Would have been some embarrasing ones too though, at one party i hid under a table as i was freaking out on mushrooms, im sure that would have been captured in this digital age, and things like that would not have been so good.

Those teenage party photos I have where taken in the mid 80's.I think I got a camera for xmas one year so any good party that came up or a good day out I got in the habit of taking my camera and now I'm glad I did as they bring back some good memories for me.
