Nah I'm fine man. They took my job away in July and then emailed me when I was in France with an even better offer so I can't complain. Started back this week, it's been great. Glad you're finally getting away from that Perth heat you're obviously not suited to.

That's brilliant! Really chuffed for you. Though when I heard they'd ended your job I thought, he'll not be long unemployed!

I'm jobless at the moment which because of my age everyone is assuming to be full retirement--I only wish my economic reality would allow that! I did retire from teaching but because I was a "professional art specialist" (sounds soooo important) that meant that there were no benefits paid, no retirement etc. In other words I was an artist grateful for any monetary crumbs and a steady, if paltry, income. But before 1KW jumps in to tell me again what an idiot I am for choosing a low paying art career, let me just say that I was happy every day at work while I did it. I do miss the kids a lot, but it's a relief not to have to do all the planning.

Sorry to hear this herbavore. I always think of you as younger than me. There must be other opportunities for you, what about community art projects, consultancy?

I've worked in the public sector so long now I'm probably fucked in getting something different too. We get trapped into the good pension schemes which can be accessed at 55. Then there's the paid annual leave (32 days and 9 public hols). I'm too expensive to make redundant now so it's going to be tricky to move on from this job.

Saying that project work is in high demand. It's mostly contract but well paid and interesting work. It's maybe worth looking into yourself.

I don't usually paint. I prefer small sculptures and paper arts like diaramas and masks etc. I've looked for so long for piece to fill a space that I've decided to create myself.

I have a huge 3 story high while wall that I also want to project against to create a moving wall of art. My digital skills need to improve before then
