General Methadone Discussion v. Why the Hell Not?

Yeah that's high. I don't think anybody "needs" that. But, it all comes down to the doc and how he sees shit. Lots of docs and clinics out there give people outrageous doses of methadone, 200, 300+mg's sometimes. It's insane. Then there are plenty out there who think that shit is totally unethical, and they wont ever script doses like that.

Mr. S,I totally agree. I'm sure there MAY be a small percentage that needs relatively high doses but 200mg is obscene.I remember my first methadone gig back in the late 80's when most doses were never higher than 60-80mg.There was a couple(BF/GF) from Amsterdam who talked them into 100mg but they made them sit post-dose for hours for their first 2 weeks.Now that methadone has gone mainstream 100mg. is 'normal'.BTW,anyone here ever go to Kenmore Square back in the day? I remember the drummer who was in a pretty big local band(can't remember the name of it now,but I'm sure I will right after I hit 'post reply').Anyway,we became clinic friends and one day he got busted for trying to cash a bad check.He landed up in the Middlesex jail(I think it's in Cambridge) for a few days with a 60mg. methadone habit.No one there gave a shit. Then one morning they found him dead from hanging himself.I was devastated.
 
Hey guys,be glad you're not in Crimea.I just read a story about how now that they went back to Mother Russia they're closing the few clinics in that area since Russia does not allow any kind of methadone treatment. They interviewed one guy on MMT who voted for re-unification(what a joke,it was the ONLY choice on the ballot) and found out that he has to move to Ukraine to continue treatment. I feel bad for him but the irony is delicious.
 
Of course there was only one choice on the ballot. They also had the Russian military posted up around the polling sites for "security".

You'd think they'd learn from us and use computer voting to rig elections. No muss,no fuss. C'mon Vlad,get with this century.

So next week I should get some take homes unless they give me a ua this week. My buddy whipped out a gram of blow while we was drinking some beers. I probably shouldn't have done it but I wanted to get high. I would have never bought it with my own money and my friend knows I won't spend my money on it. My friend don't know I go to the clinic he thinks I haven't done opiates in many years. My luck the clinic will test me Monday, last month I didn't get tested till halfway through the month. The good thing in my favor is the stuff wasn't that good so maybe in a few days it will clear my system.
 
I tried to read through all of this thread but couldnt. I have been on very small doses of suboxone (less than 1.5mg per day) and I am about to switch to methadone.. I need to know realistically.. how long do I HAVE to wait before dosing at the clinic??
 
I'm going on a trip in a few months, so I asked my counselor what I should do about dosing for the week that I will be across the country and he told me that I had to get approval from the state to get a week worth of takehomes for my trip. I know he will bullshit me from time to time and I figured only the doctor needed to approve it. Have any of yall heard anything like this?
 
If you're eligible for take homes, usually they'll just give you enough for your trip. If not, then they have to coordinate with another clinic in the area you'll be in, and you'll have to guest dose. It's a real pain in the ass. That's why take homes are so awesome.

Even if you only get 1 take home? They will give you a weeks worth and not make you guest dose. Obviously you don't know how my clinic works but is that how yours does it?
 
I wish they would refine the system to make it easier on us. Like you have your home clinic and do your required counseling and stuff but we should be able to dose at any clinic in the state. Any doctor or pharmacist can pull up a list if what medics I'm perscribed, so it seems they could just put that in there too. That way it wouldn't be such a hassle to go out of town. Or give us a card like an insurance card and when you went to a different clinic they could just call your home clinic to verify you and then dose you.

Yeah the way my clinic works, is that once you get your first take home, which is your saturday bottle, you are eligible for vacation bottles and as long as you give them enough notice, you can get them.
 
Does anyone else on the 'done have trouble staying asleep all night? I don't know if it's the medicine or just the stuff going on in my life?

Really? Nah man I sleep like a rock on the shit. Most people I know have no trouble sleeping on methadone, hah. Maybe it's stress, man. Even with the mdone, when things are crazy in my life, I'll have trouble sleeping sometimes.

Yeah could be. Are you experiencing any other symptoms, especially late at night or early in the morning before you dose? Sweats, watery eyes, etc? Maybe going up another 5 or 10mg's would help either way. What dose did you say you were on now?
