for the meth users

i can see how meth 'could' be addictive, but its all in your head man. i went through a few bags with my buddy one day, and we sat there talking about how it would be so addictive, but we said fuck it, we dont need this shit to survive, and just went on like normal. its all in your head and how strong you are.

I am glad this thread was started. I have a couple of questons for a knowledgable someone.(phreeX,probably-but someone I hope)
My husband and I do Meth about once a month or so. We get tweeked and go out a party, dance etc and we have a blast. We have great talks during the wee hours of the morning! My question is how can you tell how pure what you have is, and how do you know how much to do? We have gotten to a very "good" feeling and the whole time in the back of my mind I am wondering are we using the right amount. I don't want to have a Heart Attack or stop breathing or anything. Neither one of us has ever gotten to this point, but I have felt some pretty good rushes. We are basically novice to this as we have only tried X and Meth (I don't count weed). I looked on erowid but didn't see this specific question covered.
My second question is, if you do Meth yourself how do you decide if you should say something to someone you know who you think abuses it without feeling like (or being??)a hypocrite? Here's why I ask. My sister who is 51 years old introduced my to Meth. She scares the hell out of me because she smokes hers, everyday as far as I can tell. Not just everyday, but many times during the day. Whenever I go home to visit she stays up for two or more days with no sleep and when I am not home almost everytime I talk to her she is jacked up and hasn't slept for at least two days. I am very worried about her, strokes and heart disease run in our family and she isn't a spring chicken. Also she did unbelievable amounts of drugs(you name it) when she was younger. Do I need to try to talk to her, what do I say, and do you think it would do any good???

Hey Phreex,
I don't want to insult you but I could'nt help notice that your posts of this month are a bit unforgiving for people with less experience....
Have you picked up your old speed habits again, this time shooting down ignorant vicks'n'glowsticks kids instead of ninja's hiding in trees?

It was DEA agents in the trees, not ninjas.
I've been using meth for over a year, with no particular regularity, and I don't feel addicted at all, no particular drive to use it, etc. etc. I haven't sold anything because of it, either.
My advice: If you're going to do anything where you thing becoming addicted to it could fuck up your life, show some restraint. If you're afraid of becoming addicted, don't go on huge binges, etc.

Every drug carries psychologically addictive properties...It's ridiculous that no one has mentioned that meth, reacting to the body and brain very similarly to coke, carries physically addicting properties as well.
Meth (and cocaine) releases the brain's painkiller, dopamine. After a few uses, depending on each person, the brain can actually grow receptors that crave more dopamine release, because receptors are already there for when dopamine is needed to be released...like when you have a headache, or something that needs to be relieved. This is also known as stimulation of the brain's "please-and-reward" region.
For example, morphine is most addictive because it mimicks the body's natural painkiller, endorphine.
The body already has receptors for endorphine. Intaking morphine just confuses it. Endorphine is released when working out, dancing, etc..this is why you feel high sometimes when thoroughly active.

Speed is my drug of choice (besides pot, which I do every day), and in my opinion I have been addicted, but am not anymore.
I can do speed all weekend, and then stop, deal with the comedown and feel shitty, get over it, and then continue as normal.
It's when you can no longer deal with the comedown, and you "just need a little line before work/school/uni/whatever" that you are addicted.
And PhreeX, please would you show just a little bit of tolerance and be a bit less dismissive of any opinion that doesn't fit exactly in line with your own?

To CuriousCub,
I think you have your neuroscience a little backwards. If meth leads to increased release of dopamine, then over time the user will experience a *down*regulation of dopamine receptors, i.e., neurons will begin losing dopamine receptors. this is the brain's attempt to retain a constant-state. if there is more dopamine being released, there need not be as many receptors around. with fewer receptors, the user requires the massive, drug-induced release of dopamine to feel good. normal levels of dopamine release--when the user is no longer using--produce little effect on the brain because of the downregulation of receptors. so sobriety, instead of being neutral, becomes a terribly depressing place.

CuriousCub, Meth and Coke actually work in different ways. Coke doesn't release dopamine. It blocks the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, which causes there to be excess amounts of the two neurotransmitters present at the receptors. Meth on the other hand, ONLY releases what dopamine and NE you have newly synthesised, and not the stored pools of neurotransmitters. So no, the brain doesn't grow more receptors. Just wanted to clarify the points, not flame you :-)

This forum is about spreading information. People here are free (for the most part) to offer up their information and opinions however they'd like.
We're risking our lives doing some of the shit we do. If you want to only read the sugar coated posts, thats fine. I, on the otherhand, would prefer to receive my information uncensored.

This is my weakness!!! Although I have to say, I think you can be a responsible meth user...I use now only on the weekends (avg. about 6-7 lines per night) so it's not too bad!!! But I love it, personally!

I'm guessing it's just me, but I don't get the appeal of meth. Any drug that makes me want to clean my house just doesn't do it for me.

im with lummox drugs that make you want to clean are bad.....
also this is most likely just me, but *everytime* (only a handful of times)i have done meth i freak out bigtime (some of the cfl people have had to see this

)
it makes me too aware and anxious, its a major verload to me and i just cant deal with it but then again having a panic diseorder most likely plays a part in this happening.
has anyone else really really freaked out on nly a line or two of meth? (when i say freak out i mean if someone medical were to witness this id have been commited for psychosis)

i dunno about you guys, but the comedown off of meth makes me wanna put a fuckin gun to my head and blow my brains out. i'm not gonna commit to something that will do that to me. that shit's not addictive, it's just evil. you fuck with the bull, you might get the horns.

I'm an ex-meth addict. 5 months clean and I still deal with the after-effects.
And no, you don't need to use meth every single day before you consider yourself addicted. I never did.
And no, you don't need to sell all your possessions in order to get meth before you consider yourself addicted. I never did.
And no, you don't have to lose your job, all your friends, your entire life because of meth before you consider yourself addicted. I never did.
Meth addiction is a funny thing. Maybe you can 'control' it, regulate your use, continue to function in day to day life.
PhreeX is entitled to his opinion, of course, he kicked his meth addiction, and his heroin addiction, didn't he? How admirable, to take one addiction and trade it in for the next. The ultimate 'functional' addict.
You don't really know what addiction is
until you actually attempt to quit the shit. ALL of it. And then STAY clean. Forever.
Just my opinion.

To someonelikeme.....6-7 lines a night? I did meth for a few days and only did a few lines each nite and the comedown sucked ass what are comedowns like for you? It seems after snorting that much everyday you wouldnt be able to sleep monday and when you did get to sleep youd be out for a good day or two. But than again im a novice tweeker so what do I know?

Life as in dreams, is never quite as it seems.

i don't think meth is addicting at all.. one night i rolled, did crank, and then last i snorted some meth....crank was great so was meth i did like crank better though...i did more crank than meth so maybe that's why it's been three weeks and i haven't even wanted it...i can control myself but sometimes i don't wanna control myself so, i do multiple drugs during just one night to keep myself up....yeah i would admit that it would be nice to have some crank or meth right now...but i can live without it... when it comes my way again i will definitely take advantage of it...because i did like it but that doesn't mean i'm addicted to it... i have did meth twice but crank only once... i did coke at school one day...but i prefer crank over coke i know most people wouldn't but i do...well, if you do begin to do meth just don't get carried away and you will be ok....just have fun not too MUCH fun... ok?
