I just thought i'd chime in about the Carry-on Party.

I went to this after Ultra 7 last year when Sasha and Digweed was spinning it. Let me tell you that is one experence I will NOT repeat. It's hard for me to even describe how much that venue sucked. But i'll try.

I bought the VIP tickets last year so the Ticket for the carry-on was supposed to be included. It wasn't. They didn't tell you that you didn't get the ticket to the carry-on when you got the ticket to Ultra. All you got was a valcher for the carry-on ticket. You had to pick-up that ticket after Ultra ended and before you could get in line for the venue. In other words you had to wait in line to get your ticket and then wait in another line to get into the venue.

When I got in the line to get my ticket I realized that they only opened 2 ticket windows to exchanged valchers.

2 LINES FOR APPROXIMATELY 10-15 THOUSAND PEOPLE ALL LEAVING ULTRA AT ONCE FOR THE CARRY-ON.

I have never and I mean NEVER in my life been in a solid mass of people like that. It was simply impossible to move one way or the other. You had to just move with how the mass of people moved.

It took me about an 1 1/2 hours to finally get my ticket. I then had to wait in the line to get into the Carry-on party. I was in that line for about 45 minutes. Then I had to wait in a third line to get onto the venue floor, prolly about 30 more minutes.

After I got onto the floor I looked around and was shocked. there was nothing to it. Just a small stage set up in the middle of the basketball court. Thats it. And to top it all off. If you wanted to get something to eat or drink you had to leave the floor to get it. Which means you had to wait in that 30 minute line again to get back in again.

The set-up completly ruined the experience for me. which sucks cause I had never seen Sasha and Digweed before. I've seen them separately but not together and I was really looking foward to it. But by the time I got in and settled I was pretty much ready to go.

So as much as it would really like to see The Orb (mainly cause its one of the few I have never seen) and normally I tell people that if you get a chance to see Rabbit-In-The-Moon you should definately do it 'cause they are a unique experince I just don't think going thru all that is worth it. Especially since South Beach is only a few minute cab ride away and will have plenty of parties going off.

I also dont think the VIP ticket is worth it either, but that is another story.

Save your money, head to South Beach when Ultra ends.

just my .02

I agree. That afterparty entire setup was terrible. After Ultra, me & my friends drove 5mins back to our hotel to chill for a bit then came back for this party. The organization was terrible in getting tickets to standing in line to get in. They only had like 2 booths open for the MANY afterparty people waiting to get in. Then there was the line to actually get into the venue. And then there was the limited access to the stadium areas. And the mainfloor where Sasha & Digweed spun was just small. Small for the djs and then hella crowded to even dance on the floor. hella dark too. It definitely blew my high cause I was still amped to party that night. Anywho that was last years setup, hopefully this year things will be different. I haven't heard anything yet about any of the afterparties or where they will be, so we'll see. I personally enjoy afterparties as much as the main events because it gives a chance to meetup with the peoples you had met at the main party less the crazyness but still a fun & chilled time.

Anyways that was my input because I basically had the same expereince last year.
However discouraged from that I'm still excited for this year and all its events!!

^nice work Mr. Tyra on the Damien spotting!! you're going this year again, right??? The Pawn Shop 101 should be nice. plus, Pig & Dan - Seth is going to be excited!! :) oh... how the anticipation is building!!

It is no wonder why a lot of people partying are on something down at WMC... It would be nearly impossible to do everthing you want with out some type of upper. I guess I'm resigned to the fact that I will just have to miss certain event's or at least certain artists.

I think variety is key - my suggestion - map out your week(end) and give yourself a little bit of flexibility... but be sure you buy the pre-sales to events you know you must see. Sleep, Eat well, and Drink a lot of Water ppl. Good luck to everyone! Only TWO WEEKS!!!!!

finally decided to make my first trip down to miami this year can't wait now. When do they actually release time slots and such?

sometimes you can find timeslots, but last year we noticed more times than not that many of the parties don't give timeslots. not sure if they do this so the venue can keep you longer (thus making more money on $8.00 waters and $7.00 bottles of corona) or what... but... from my experience from last year, you just kind of have to get down there and start asking people who is playing when, especially for the day parties. however, it looks like some timeslot have been posted for a few of the larger events.

maybe someone has found a better way of finding out timeslots and if so, please share! :)
