FL, Miami - 03.24.06-3.28.06 - Winter Music Conference & Ultra 8 *REVIEW*

As far as techno goes, that lineup is siiiiiiick. Wish I could make it out, but it'd just be lost cause to say this early, "OH YEAH, I'LL BE THERE WHOOT WHOOT OMG WTF LOL"...so I'm not going to. Have fun ya'll, see you in Detroit!

cravNbeets - did you see Troy in Detroit last weekend?? It was a sick show. .

no, live in portland oregon. this was his only nw appearance. he played at this place called saucebox, a small loungey space. he was on point for sure tho:)

People who have been before.. how Ghetto is the riande hotel.. should I go elsewhere? (Suggestions?) By ghetto.. I know it's downtown Miami.. so obviously there will be sketchyness outside. I mean the actual "living conditions" inside the hotel.

^^most of the events are in southbeach, why stay downtown? unless you're simply going to ultra and perhaps space.... if you have a car though its prolly cheaper downtown vs collins ave.... i'd recommend staying somewhere on southbeach but a bit off the beaten path...

looks to me like your hotel is on southbeach and kinda outta the way... prolly a good choice:)

http://www.riandecontinentalbayside.com is the one that was being considered, and I may only hang out for Ultra since the weekend before I'm going to aim for doing Global Gathering.. besides I've got someone coming with me who could change my schedule. Having a car and trying to park downtown sucks ass, and i'm second guessing myself for picking this hotel though it is quite close to the venue.. if I've got to park my car 35235235 miles away anyway maybe I should consider another hotel and just take a cab / hitch a ride with someone heading the same way. Suggestions? :) During past years when I would only attend Ultra I stayed at the Everglades because it was dirt cheap, and it was saturated with people partying so you'd actually have to put a lot of effort forth to get "noticed". Actually.. It might be better to keep hotel suggestions in private because uh.. I don't want to hang out with anyone I don't know :)

its offical now... me and a few friends are all rolling down there... buying my ticket in a week or so (hope i still can)... we look to have about 2.5G to throw into this party... so we r def gana do it right =D

if i see yall at the party then great.... ill be introducing myself as smoketrails seeing how i dont want 40k etards knowing my real name =D

evoldica~ why do you have to worry about parking w/ that hotel? im sure they have make some concessions for guests ie a garage, lot, or valet....def a good idea to keep your hotel info off the board. pm me if you have any questions

Does anyone have any suggestions for good hotels and what area? As long as it's a hilton, doubletree, hampton, or embassy it's doesn't matter how much the room is.

Yeah... I've decided to not even stay at a hotel the night of the event... I'll be doing the afterparty thing so what's the point? :D Does anyone want to arrange a small meetup at some time during the event?

This is the WMC thread also, so here is a link everyone will want to visit before heading out to Miami this year.

http://www.wmcstore.com/tlist/list.asp

It's a list of a bunch of the parties that are taking place March 23-29.
Keep checking it, because people are constantly adding new info.

if cost doesn't matter, look for a hotel in the South Beach or Miami Beach area.
the zip code is 33139.
i prefer a hotel on Collins Ave.

here's a doubletree in the Miami Beach/South Beach area:

1717 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida, United States 33139

here's a doubletree almost across the street from where Ultra is being held:

I'm with RavenousBlonde....Fuck hotels.....I'll be sleepin on the beach and bathin in the ocean, haha. HardCore.

I camped in a van for half my trip last year, but goddamn does it get hot in a van at night in Miami, and you can't open a window cuz then the cops see you sleeping in a vehicle and give you shit. They seem to frown upon vagrancy. At least on the beach you can hide easily at night.

And Evoldica.....attempting to stick to plans in the maelstrom of chaos that is WMC/Ultra is damn near impossible.

Just remember that when you're swimming in the ocean on South Beach....you're swimming in the Bermuda Triangle. OOOOOooooOOOOOO

stayed at the Holiday Inn - Miami Beach last year which was cheap and clean which is all that really matters.. pretty close to stuff, but a little bit of walking. this year staying near 800 block of collins which is where all the day parties go on. if you want to spend more time dancing and less time walking, stay on collins. because if you haven't been, you'll know that driving or cabing it is nearly impossible unless you want to spend your whole week trying to catch a cab, then traveling to get where you are going. check out southbeachgroup.com for some wmc packages for boutique hotels in the area.

^^^solid advice all around

some of the boutique hotels offer reasonable deals if you get in early. our hotel last year had events goin on from 7pm till 6am virtually every day we were there... and open bar to boot for 2 hours everynight!
