The ONLY worthwhile thing about this film was the extremely hot dark haired chick in leather. Can't remeber her name but the same one in the just as terrible film 'Van Helsing'.

Watching this movie was like picking up a random Robin McKinley book and trying to figure out the background to the story. I get it, but you know, quit trying to be clever with mythology twists.

awesome. just noticed there are totally two threads for this film, so i'm gonna merge them.

i was wondering were all of these extra posts came from since yesterday, hehe.

Style over substance? It was ok. It could have been a lot better.

Honestly, I found most of the shoot outs to even be rather bland. Nothing really new, or even that hectic. Too much slow motion for no reason other than to show shell casings fly into the air and to make it longer.

So much to work with and nothing done with it. Disapointing. The sound track was fitting. Not much else to say about this.

^^^ so? for once cant people just ENJOY a good movie without having to constantly look for reasons not to? It should be obvious to any free-thinking person that none of the ideas present in Underworld are original, but what this film does well is take ideas that were established in the past and build on them more.

I borrowed the DVD of this from my brother tonight with no expectations whatsoever and I was thoroughly entertained. There was NOT one boring minute in this movie and as I usually dislike most vampire/goth themed movies with the exception of a very few, thats saying something.
It was stylish, well paced, had pretty good acting, excellent visual effects and stunning cinematography...plus quite a few f*ckin bad-ass gun shooting/fight scenes.

For those who found this terrible and/or boring, um.....lol. you sure are a hard to appease lot eh? 8) pffft . whatever. i liked this a lot.

PS. The only abomination in this movie is Craven....the actor playing him was badly cast and his accent sucked donkey balls......everybody had this very slight pseudo posh accent goin and he has this awful freaking american accent. WTF!?
:p

I had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I thought the icy blue cinematography was tres cool, and on the whole I loved the costumes and F/X. On the other, it started too quickly with no way of getting to know the characters or the plot, and it just seems to blunder along until about halfway through the film. The last part of the movie was passable, but forgettable. Yet the design, style, and bare premise of the film is too good to warrant giving it a bad rating.

Heh, I liked the trilogy of them alright - felt the last was pretty weak in terms of reaching for a reason to make the movie :\ But again, I put this in the 'comic book film' category, as it went for a lot more flash than substance, and IMO it delivered on that - not perfectly, but well enough.

The second one was slightly better--but only because it was working with already-established characters, IMO.
