Hey DigDug, maybe you should see the movie before you ring in with such a harsh judgement. I am a fan of M night and know what to exspect when viewing one of his films. M night is a wonderful director and an even better writer, his writing might be a little slow to climax, but only a hand full of people can write twist plots as M night Does. And the fact that you went to see harold and kumar says plenty about your sence artstic abillity...................have a good life living in you parents basement

For what it's worth, The Village only scored 45 out of 100 on rottentomatoes.com, while Harold & Kumar go to White Castle scored a 72 out of 100.

On metacritic.com 'The Village' gets a 40 and Harold and Kumar get a 60.

:\

Well if rottentomatoes.com is the standard judge on whether a movie is good or bad is news to me. Those numbers don't mean any thing. Once again if you haven't seen the movie how can you even an opinion.

Whats better...this one or the Blair Bitch.,,uh...Blair Witch i mean? Because I honestly thought Blair Witch sucked major BALLS!! And i felt nauseous coming out of the theater!

I talked to some friends who saw this...

..and it kind of made me not want to have read the spoilers.

If I could go into this movie without the mindset that it's going to be a horror/scary flick.. I probably would have enjoyed it a LOT.

it was okay.. i thought it had a weird ending, I left the movies saying they lived behind the walls of wild life... *scratches head*

but once again I went to see the movie for the hot guy in it.. even though he is cubby since his last movie... I'm so shallow...;)

A bit off topic but how did the retard know that she was in the woods? He was locked up in the quiet room when she left.

haha I was wondering the same thing! either way I didn't really like the movie. I don't think I would ever watch it agian it isn't really worth the time.

I saw this movie today and was really pleasantly surprised.

I loved it. I thought it wasnt going to be very good, especially since i revealed the twist to myself as written by BlueAdonis, but this did not spoil it at all. It was so much better than i thought it would be. I was nearly in tears during it.

When the terrible thing that happened did happen (not wanting to give anything away), i was so close to tears! I couldnt believe it! I was on the edge of my seat.

Then when Ivy went i really wanted her to be ok.

The sound track, the characters, the story it was truly amazing. I cant wait to see it again!

I was unsure about seeing this after all the mixed reviews that I read. I also cheated and revealed the twist also written by BA. It didn't spoil it one bit I don't think.
It was nothing like I thought it was going to be, just going by the previews...but it was definitely good.

^^ actually, i think knowing the twist allows you to enjoy the movie more... i actually liked it alot more the 2nd time i saw it.

I certainly hope to see it again or to buy it at some stage on DVD when it is released.
I thoroughly enjoyed it because of all the social commentary and life implications that the story had. I thought the characters were superb - especially the blind girl character. I figured out what the twist may be but the way it was portrayed was really great. I thought it was an intense package that left me thinking.

I thought it was fairly well acted. And it deserves more credit than was given to it. It was well filmed. Just the script ending was terrible in a way. It wrapped up in a nice bow (Hollywood ending).
Sort of a strange twist in the end that was dull.

I enjoyed that sort of world though. Creating one's utopia based on fear is quite interesting. The failure of the ideal?
Makes me want to read Island or Brave New World again.

Lots of Good and Evil references...sin and what not.

The costumes were impressive.

I think it could have been a very esoteric film, if it was European or something...good Gothic Horror. Spoiler->

That the evil in the woods was indeed an evil in the woods... would have been a more interesting film.

I'd like to drop by myself to the village. Looks like some good eatin'

I'm surprized so many people had a negative reaction to the film. I just saw the DVD last night and I thought it was quite good. There were a few areas I thought were a bit loose, but, all in all, nicely done. Fascinating really. I guess my one concern for Shymalan as a director is he's becoming predictably, unpredictable. But, maybe I'm just insanely jealous that we are almost the exact same age and he's already had several major hollywood hits. ;)

Holy shit, I watched this over the weekend and I have one thing to say:

If I had spent $7 to see this in a theatre I would take a shit on the theatre floor in defiance over this stupid movie. Nobody should be charging customers to see this, nobody should be paying money to see this. Horrible.
