It doesn't matter if you believe in God or not. That movie will make you feel worthless. I loved it nothing can compare to the beating scence. It was so gruesome

Christ Movie Moves Man to Confess Murder
Fri Mar 26, 8:20 AM ET Add Movies - Reuters to My Yahoo!

HOUSTON (Reuters) - A repentant Texas man went to police after seeing Mel Gibson (news)'s controversial film "The Passion of Christ" and confessed to murdering a 19-year-old woman who was pregnant with his child, authorities said on Thursday.

Police had thought Ashley Nicole Wilson, who died on Jan. 18, had hanged herself, but Dan Leach, 21, went to them on March 9 to admit that he had killed her, said Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Jeannie Gage.

Leach wanted to seek redemption after talking to a friend and seeing the movie about the last hours of Christ's life, she said.

"He mentioned that speaking with the friend and seeing the movie 'The Passion of Christ' made him feel remorse," Gage said.

Leach said he killed Wilson because she was pregnant with his child and he did not want to be involved with her anymore, she said.

Wilson was found in her apartment with a suicide note describing her depression but Leach said he staged the murder to look like she had killed herself. The Houston Chronicle first reported the story in its online edition.

Leach was released after his confession while police investigated and was arrested on Tuesday after a grand jury indicted him. He was being held on $100,000 bail, Gage said.

The Mel Gibson film has been criticized for graphic violence and for its portrayal of the role of Jews in the death of Christ.

On a more serious note...that beating scene still creeps me out weeks later...

a couple got into a fight over this movie in debating whether christ was human.. or some kind of representation of god.. and she stabbed her husband with scissors b/c of it..

another guy attempted to crucify himself after watching this movie, but realized after he nailed one hand in, he couldn't nail the other in.

I don't have links, but i'm sure they'd be easy to find.

Dawn of the Dead just knocked this movie out of its #1 spot this week. lol.. See its not Jesus.. its just the gore we're interested in.

Dead on accurate!!

If this movie had little violence, it wouldn't have made it anywhere near #1.

well, this has nothing to do with the integrity of the movie...but monica belucci is really hot. yowza.

I refuse to give mel gibson money for this, so I'm waiting for it to come out on netflix so I can get someone else to rent it so I can copy the movie. Then I'll watch it once and throw it away.

Are you seriously considering taking 2ct21 before watching this movie?!?!

[heavy sarcasm mode on]
Yeah, now there's a great idea for a garanteed good trip!
You go for it, sounds like loads of fun!

I didn't like this movie that much. It was pretty straight forward and the beatings and torture actually gets a bit worn out after a while. 'Yeah I get the point, he suffered, a lot, now move on.'
This film didn't affect me nearly as much as i expected from it after everything i heard about it. Maybe i ruined the experience for myself by reading too much into it before hand, then again, maybe not and this isn't just my kind of movie.

"So who still hasn't seen this movie?"

I haven't, and who knows if and when I will..Doesn't intrigue me to see Mr. Gibson's ideas on this played out religious scene...But I sure thought the treatment of it in South Park this week was hilarious and insightful...

So overall, isit worth watching?

I just saw the Passion tonight, and i am writing this now to tell all of you to just go and see it. It is an incredible, stunning important work of art. I raise the white flag as I do NOT want to add to previous comments that verge on the redundant...you know what im saying, its all been said already so lets just try to experience the movie for what it is , ayt? if you are keen to find cause or fault such as anti-semitism (among others) in the movie you will most probably find it whether or not it is there. After all these mind games and arguments and issues and shit, it is so easy to lose sight of the simplicity of Christs message which was and IS: Love one another as i have loved you. Thats really just it. Okay on to the OTHER aspects of the movie .....it is a beautiful BEAUTIFUL unparalleled piece of cinematic artistry...it actually reminds me of a carefully crafted horror film. Gibson is a magnificent director ,the cinematography, the musical score, the haunting images that remind me of caravaggio and Bosch etc. that stay in ones mind long after the movie is over.I did not think the violence was gratuitous at all. This is after all, the PASSION of Christ, not anything else , so why would we want another mediocre long winded blah re-telling as if it was about the other stages in JEsus life? THis movie starts and ends with a mindblowing BANG and it rocked my world so GO (to those who havent seen it yet) NOW !! (if only to see that chilly androgynous slithering Satan ...ahhhh )

I believe Mel Gibson didn't become so religious until he was like robbed and his face was reconstucted by plastic surgeons...remember "Man without a Face" ? My bet is he made that in his healing process...just a guess but the reconstruction part is true...

So... the DVD just came out today. I was a bit disapointed that there were not more extras included. If ever there was a film that deserved a seperate DVD of extras and/or a "making of" documentary - this would be it.

I still contend that it is a pitty that this film recieved such negative press before its release. I found it in no way anti-semetic. If anything I feel that the film did an excellent job of reinforcing the fact that no person or persons crucified Jesus, but that God himself crucified Christ out of love for humanity.

I was humbled, i was horrified, I was broken and I was built back up again... all in the course of a few hours. Bravo, Mel Gibson... I can say without reservation that this is the most emotionally moving film I have ever seen.

Well considering Pilate got removed from his position for being too heavy handed (which in Rome during that time period.. is quite alot).. i'm not buying the Bible's image (nor this DVD's image) of him being so kind and compassionate towards Jesus.
