I second that, congratulations 
its nice being able to look at one thread and read all the discussion about a movie. but its annoying to shift thru several pages of talk prior to the movie opening to get to people's current opinions. could a thread, like charlie and the chocolate factory be split off?
rumors about tim burton making a movie and johnny depp staring in it are hardly relevant now that the movie is out. obviously we know the release date, cast, and all that jazz. it would be handy to skip all that and get to the movie reviews.
i'm not talking about the threads that have maybe a page of people excited for the release. i'm talking about threads that have multiple pages and started over a year before the movie was released. the batman begins thread is another example.
or if you will not create a new thread, at least link to where the reviews start in the main post? or maybe i am the only one who finds this annoying?

^^^ that's not that bad an idea actually. just throwing some thoughts out - perhaps when (like the charlie and the chocolate factory example) a movie's come out and *real* discussion of it is occurring, the original posts can be split off (like you said) into their own 'film: [NAME] (reference thread)' thread or something. with a link to it in thread which continues actual discussion/reviewing?

I'd like to throw an idea out there. Going along with animal_cookie and onetwothreefour's idea of spliting preview/prediction/trailer threads off from the actual discussion/review part of the threads we could possibly archive these preview threads or just delete them. archiving or deleting would possibly cut down on people posting discussion in the preview threads and keep things nice and clean
. IMO after a film has been released and discussion is taking place there isn't really a need for the preview threads.

I honestly never search for an old post. If something is on my mind, I will post it. Period.

okay this doesn't shit me really bad or anything but was just wondering if it's not too difficult a task to change the star voting system to be out of five stars instead of the current four? cos voting out of four stars is just ghey imo. still, it's no biggy...

I know that this subject came up some time ago, but I shall submit this constructive advice here anyway:
Please, Bluelight Powers That Be, for the love of God, re-re-vamp the star system so that it:
(a) is out of 4.0 stars (rather than out of 5.0)
(b) gives a much wider variety of choices so that people can give a true and accurate rating to better describe, with a number, how much they enjoyed a movie.
First of all, forcing us to rate movies out of 5 stars is un-Earthian - it's like asking us to rate women's looks on a scale of 0 to 13.
More importantly, by not including more choices, each of us is forced to give the same rating to our favorite movie of all time as we would give to our twenty-fourth movie of all time (assuming that most of us are movie-philes who have watched literally hundreds of movies, and for forum-regulars, I think that's a pretty good assumption).
C'mon guys - I know there'd be a little bit of work invoved, and while I'm not a techie, I'd be happy to pitch in in whatever way I could, but this is a rating system that would be of FAR more value to the Bluelight Movie Loving public (and, I would argue, would be UTILIZED by a far wider audience):
4.00 stars - Among the All-Time Pantheon Of Greatest Movies Ever
3.75 stars - Worthy of Winning The Academy Award For Best Picture
3.50 Stars - Worthy of Being Nominated For Best Picture
3.25 Stars - Worth Watching A Second Time
3.00 Stars - Worth Watching Exactly Once In The Theatre
2.75 Stars - Worth Watching Exactly Once, At Home
2.50 Stars - Flawed But Watchable, If Seriously Desperate
2.25 Stars - I Want My Two Hours Back
2.00 Stars - I'm Embarrassed For Whomever Recommended This To Me
1.00 Star - I'm Puking Right Now Just Thinking About It

Alternatively, if the powers that be are against the idea of having fractional stars as options, a simple rating system from zero to ten gives the same range of eleven choices.

i dont think there is ever going to be a consensus on the star system. people were annoyed with the original four stars rating and after enough begging we (just within the last three months) changed it over to five stars allowing more room for a gradation in the rating and a middle choice for that 'alright' movie.
there has been, always, a vote from a few for a half star system making up an eight star system and now for or eleven choice system. the moderators discussed having the half star system during the last change and decided against it with one of the big reasons is having the votes so far spread out on a movie no real overall rating would be shown... i can imagine it being even worse with the 11 choice system.
i dont think it is something is going to be changed again in the near future.
