Film & Television forum feedback - ** PLEASE CONTRIBUTE **

Wondering about doing a movie/film of the month thing where you have to go watch the movie and then talk about it. Sort of like a book club.

We do that now. Somewhat. And there was a thread up before that had the same idea. Maybe there isn't much interest in something like that?

And maybe have some guidelines for watching as well.
 
yes, i'd love to see something like that started again, but it will need people to contribute to it - i myself should shoulder as much (perhaps more) of the blame than anyone: despite my desire to see it work, i contributed rarely to it.

i'd say that maybe the monthly idea has more chance of success? not everyone here is a total geek like myself (and even i didn't get around to commenting on many films), so it's likely that a month will give people more of an opportunity to seek out the film.

jp: feel free, as alasdair said, to start a new thread on whichever film you'd like to begin it with. i certainly like the idea, and wish i could say i'd contributed more to alasdair's original manifestion of it.
 
I'm thinking Last Night . Its readily available in Canada. And a pretty good movie.
I don't know the availability in other countries that would be the only thing.
It was a pretty big movie (shown in theatres), so maybe if your favorite store has a "foreign" category...

Actualy you can blame me. I'm the one that came up with the idea. I just didn't follow through on it. I did the "Oprah's Movie Club" thing as a pseudo-joke that wasn't funny to anyone but myself... that and no one seemed to give a shit, so the idea kinda sputtered out.

it's been nearly two months since nominations were invited for a new f&t moderator and over three weeks since they closed. is there any news at all? why the delay?

yeah that's an excellent query alasdair. How much processing could selecting a moderator take? From what I remember during my old, old mod days, not too much...unless some people on the inside have an issue with the newly selected mod?
 
I'm sorry if that's the case wanderlust...it's too bad this isn't like the old days where forum mods and/or the ex-mod decided who would be best for the job. Frankly, I'm not sure why mods of other forums would give two shits.
 
obviously i can only speak for myself but it's frustrating to be told that active moderation is so important that i have to be fired then the activation a new moderator take so long. it just doesn't add up.

it's hard, again for me, to see how f&t is now a better place without me or my replacement. how has this improved the forum?

sorry BB...didn't mean to jump the gun there. I should've listed admins along with my other mods comment since other mods don't really have any power regarding this forum.
 
Just to ease everyone's hard on over the F&T forum mod replacement situation, it's easy to sit back and throw theories at the wall and grab whatever one sticks. But it's kind of hard to work with the forum mods and keep communication going when I don't hear a word about this situation from May 23rd to June 14th (only after I brought this back up). So carry on with your "Oh we're sorting through the bureucracy...the administrators are total stiffs...the mods are powerless....nothing's been done so it must be the admins fault..." comments because you really don't know jack shit.

Maybe one of the mods would like to read their email from me I sent out on June 23rd and confirm things? :X

BA, with respect, is the totally condescending, pour-gasoline-on-the-fire attitude really necessary?

f&t is an intimate forum with a loyal following and surely it's understandable if people have an interest in the management of the forum. is it not reasonable to ask - given the removal of a stagnant moderator - why adding a replacement has taken so long?

Yeah I'm not sure you needed to post that here BA. If there's a situation between you and the mods, then shouldn't that be taken care of behind the scenes instead of heading towards a game of pointing the finger somewhere else?

Granted, I've thrown out one theory about why this has taken so long, but like alasdair, I'm just confused as to why it's taken this amount of time to figure out a replacement mod.
 
ba is correct there has been large amount of miscommunication between all (mods) involoved.. just to set it straight
