^It's not the special effects, it's the wooden acting. The first three movies weren't great acting-wise, but at least there was chemistry on screen. I've never seen a director make Natalie Portman out to be a terrible actress (which she is far from). And Hayden Christiansen? He couldn't show emotion if you set him on fire.

I don't care that Ep 1 & 2 were bad... I'll still go see Ep 3.

And Ep 5 is still the best of the lot.

Agree on episode five being the best.... I feel one and two have detracted from the franchise.

Revenge of the Sith art released today...

rumors are he's making another three, episode 7,8,9.....

Actually, there is a rumor on top of that rumor that Peter Jackson will be taking over the new trilogy after Lucas has cashed in on part 3.
It's not official yet, but Lucas has been talking to Jackson about over shadowing the project.

In my opinion, I think it's a great idea since it took 20 years for Lucas to start working on the 2nd Trilogy.
If it took him the same amount of time for a 3rd trilogy without Peter jackson, he would be dead before part 8 would even be in production. 8)

Because of licensing agreements i'm pretty sure Lucas has to honor what has happened in the star wars books and use those facts in any further movies he makes (like chewbaca having been killed off)

So it's very doubtful that there will be any more movies.

I think they've got an awful lot to cram in to episode three to link it up with episode 4,should be interesting to see how they do it.
As to wether or not 7,8,9 get made,i reakon if theres the potential to makes millions more from the world wide army of loyal followers then they'll do it.What with effects technology and all they would be amazing plus you never know they could even get the original cast in too.

I like to think that, too but unfortunately there is this one pompous asshole with bad hair and a beard that essentially gets the final word:

booooo! :p

I am not going to watch it. On principle. Similar to how I havent listened to anything by metallica since 1999 napster tragedy. I despise what the series has become. Lucas makes me sick these days.

Prior to Star Wars, Lucas directed THX1138 and American Graffiti.

I believe you'll find that Lucas didn't direct a single movie between 1977 (Star Wars - A New Hope) and 1999 (The Phanton Menace).

I thought Episodes one and two were dreadful, meaning I think he was a brief flash-in-the-pan director from the 70's who has produced squat of directorial value since.

Lucas has given us a huge amount, especially technically. Bless him and his companies - he changed the way we see (and hear) movies.

But I don't trust him not to fuck up Episode 3. This thing is gonna suck donkey balls.

tim burton: i would love to see his take on it, if he steps away from his usual style (which is of course brilliant) and does something dark and dramatic we might see something totally new..

1 was for the kids. 2 was the tease. 3 should be the payoff.

OK folks.. so who would you like to see direct episodes 3 (and the hypothetical 7,8, and 9 )?

Stanley Kubrick's corpse
Luc Besson
Ridley Scott

I'm still wondering how Lucas is going to explain the transition from smooth, colorful, shiny ships and architecture from, the first 3 episodes to the very boxy and drab designs of the latter 3. Hopefully it's due to a kind of "dark ages" where the Empire stalls technology.

I'd rather watch the "boxy and drab" style from episodes 4-6.

The ship models in particular looked far more realistic and way better than the digital crap Lucas stuffed into every available corner of the new movies.

i guess i'm just easily entertained! =D

i can't wait for this to come out in may....and i'm so interested to see how everything ties in because there's a LOT of ground to cover...

Yeah, he should have stuck to the true feel of the Star Wars Trilogy as we know it by just using the technology they had back then.

^^^
That actually would cost him more money and would look more retro.

Almost everything you see in parts 1-3 is computer generated.
