film: simpsons movie (trailer/footage included)

woot!

http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/thesimpsonsmovie/

Though talk of a full-length Simpsons movie has surrounded the hit series since its earliest seasons, chatter and rumor consistently failed to result in anything beyond "possibilities" for years and through hundreds of episodes. In fact, it wasn't until the conclusion of the Emmy award winning program's 17th season that a movie was given full confirmation and, beyond that, a release date of July 27, 2007. Now, eight months prior to that date, a brand new trailer is giving fans their first glimpse of completed footage.
Unfortunately, little regarding the film's premise can be garnered from the brief segment beyond the fact that Homer will have to rescue his family and suffer a great deal in the process. Early reports, however, have suggested that fans will be seeing the fallout of an accident at the nuclear power plant that ruins springfield's drinking water. Needless to say, Homer is found to be the cause of the mishap and is fired. The townspeople, meanwhile, stage a mass exodus.

Leaked footage of animatics for The Simpsons Movie that was displayed at Comic-Con 2006 certainly supports the rumors as it depicts 742 Evergreen Terrace falling before a siege of irate townsfolk crying for Homer Simpson's head.

Thanks for the links. I saw the preview and I want to see more. I've been a big simpsons fan for 17 years!

great, the ultimate sellout in a long line of simpson's sellout history :\

the movie will probably suck just like the show has for the last 5 years, sorry to say for all those who still love the simpsons but they've never been the same since the season finale done in the style of vh1's behind the music, i think that was about 5 years ago....beasters all across the board.

^I totally agree. They should have ended it when they were still on top. Now it just seems like they're milking it for every last cent :\

The Simpsons has largely beeb absolute shit since around 2000, 2001. True there's an occasional good episode, but I stopped watching a long time ago. It makes me quite sad to see what was once my favorite show wither away like this. I can't see this movie being any good.

They should have had Conan write it.

Yeah they have really run out of ideas. The jokes are a bit mediocre these days. I used to watch the new episodes every sunday and now I couldn't really give a shit. Ah well we always have the classics *sighs*

I'm not expecting much from this movie, but I'll probably still go see it.

yea this will probably the last nail in the coffin for the simpsons, lots of slapstic humour and variations on jokes that have been done to death, im sure itll earn alot of money though.

It may come as a shock to some...but I am a fan of the Simpsons. A huge fan still. I admit the newer episodes don't stand up to the older ones, but I think the extremes of Family Guy and American Dad make the Simpsons look tame by today's standards (I can't stand American Dad) But the Simpsons still holds up in my opinion.
It may be nostalgia that I am feeling. I remember watching the Simpsons for the first time back when I was in grade 7, and thinking it was great. The Simpsons and Hockey Night in Canada are the only shows that I cannot miss, no matter what.
I am looking forward to this movie. I can't wait. I will be there opening night.

This films will have the best impact if seen in a packed theatre. I'll be there in the first week or so.

Don't mention The Simpsons in this house!

We don't have any Simpsons!

I never knew the Simpsons!

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I cant wait to see it, I will probably orgasm through the whole thing, its about time that the simpsons made a movie

I'm going to apologize for all the griping I will do leading up to this movie due to my saltiness with the show jumping the shark and sucking for the last six or seven years (probably seven).

I'll still see it though.

I've lost faith in The Simpsons. If they can't make a decent twenty-one minute episode, what makes anyone think they can make a decent hour and a half one? I'll watch it, like I watch the new episodes - but I'm not expecting much...

Supposedly a lot of the older writers are returning to write this (no conan thought) which might make it promising. Though the sneak picks i've seen so far have all sucked a big one...

my opinion is that when the simpsons left behind character-driven stories/cutesy morality plays from a skewed perspective and started going the family guy route they lost it. and in other news, family guy is vastly overrated.

to clarify, in my opinion, the family guy route is non-sequitor followed by non-sequitor, a certain "meanness" the simpsons never used to display (making ned into an overrighteous evangelical douche instead of the kind hearted but misguided christian neighbor, for example), and a general sense of "throw away humor."
