I thought it fuckin sucked, what a waste of $7.75.

I'm such a victim of advertising. I just kept waiting and waiting and waiting for something scary to happen and it never did. Danny Glover was about useless. So many times very unrealistic things happened.

For example: That chinese guy looking for the "off switch" on that machine that was closing in on the guy's head. HELLO GENIUS, YOU HAVE A DAMN GUN IN YOUR HAND! Why didn't the mother shoot that Zep guy when she had the chance? She's just going to let the man who terrorized her and her family sit on the bedroom floor and squirm away?

And why did that Zep guy take so much pleasure in terrorizing the family if it was merely part of his challenge?

Screw this movie!

so i caught this movie today. twisted yes. resebles se7en yes. *could* have been good for these two reasons, but in my opinion it was completely let down by poor acting. specifically as AlphaNumeric said by the guy who plays the doctor. fucking tragic, really.

personally i wouldn't bother going to see it at the movies, wait till it comes out on dvd.

There's a lot to like about Saw, and for a first time directorial debut, I think a lot can be forgiven, . Sure there's plot holes, but for a first script it's pretty impressive. Yes, Carey Elwes as the doctor is pretty bad, but Leigh Whannell did an alright job. It wasn't as gory or scary as it is made out to be but overall it has its moments and is a solid addition to the psychological thriller genre.

I was pretty disappointed in this movie. I guess that's what I get for getting myself all worked up about fancy trailers and advertising. Definitely not the scariest movie, more suspenseful if anything.

There were only two scenes that I really liked. One was the scene in the girl's bedroom where there was complete silence for approximately 5 minutes to let tension build. I find that complete silence (instead of the customary musical buildup) tends to be used in Asian horror films a lot and I find the silence is MUCH more terrifying.

I also liked the scene where there was complete darkness and you could only hear what was happening.

Other than that, nothing too extraordinary. I still have not found a movie as scary as the Shining or the original Vanishing (in French). Holy crap, those are two scary movies. 8o

welcome to amateur night in film making. a movie with no story and only one point: let's see how big an audience this director can masturbate over. there was much more creativity in the poster design than the whole movie. no redeeming features.
saw= a very dull experience.

ps. it's more of a 5c rip off of manhunt (the video game)

The guy who played Lawrence....man, that was possibly the worst acting I have ever seen from a lead actor. The guy who played Adam was pretty bad at points also, but then you kind of find out why he's so wooden at some stage, which makes up for it.

Also, I don't know that the fast-forward flashback scenes worked so much most of the time they were used...it seemed too gimmicky most of the time and detracted from the terror more than it added.

On the plus side though, I really did enjoy this film. The last ten-fifteen minutes in particular had me on the edge of my seat, and I would never have predicted the massive twist we got (though it makes sense in retrospect).

One of the things I really liked was that it was visually stimulating; the two main characters are pretty much chained to pipes in an isolated room for most of the film...with different camera angles, different ways of viewing them etc, the movie still totally maintained my attention despite that.

So in closing...I really liked this, I would definitely see it again. It's just a shame about the acting... :\

I really liked this movie.
It had me from start to finish. One of the best horror/thriller ones to come out.

Managed to see this at a premiere with the director and the actor who played "adam" wathcing it in the cinema with us after a short speech.

I was hugely impressed.

Either way I really dug it.

the movie SAW

***spoiler***

i found the end where cary elwes cut his foot off unbelievable, sure he was trying to save his family, but would he do that? i mean he's then gonna bleed to death for sure, right? and the movie really lacked to me, truly it did.

thanks

Rented this the other night and was very impressed.I like films with that "twist" at the end, really makes you think-"why the fuck didn't i think of that".
What the fuck go's on in the heads of creators of such a film is far more worrying,i suppose its a good job they turned there skills to producing films.

^^Cube is a great film, although it never really hit the big time like it could of had it of have had a bigger budget and better cast.Isn't there a Cube II??

Oh god miss Cube 2... it is really bad.

There is a Cube 3 however, under the title of "Cube Zero" or perhaps "Cube 0".
You do not need to see Cube 2 from my understanding as it is a prequel.

And apparently really damn good.

Cube 2 - Hypercube sucked. Confusing story, lame effects... bah even the writer/director apologized for it.

uhm, this movie did not measure up. excellent idea but not done well, and definitely not scary at all. i gave it one star

I found myself getting mad at Danny Glover's character and "Robin Hood: Men in tight's" wife. Those who have seen it probably know which parts I'm talking about. The acting was a little sub par towards the end (Larry's) but I found the idea and the score great. If they had a larger budget, a few script revisions and a better cast it could have been up there with Seven.

Saw 2 comes out October 25th. While I loved the first one,I hope they don't turn this into another water-downed franchise. The Jigsaw killer was interesting because they never really revealed a motive as to why he did what he did. Hell, they never really showed his face. If it's to be as good as the first one, they need to come high or stay at home. I would like to see a situation where it starts out like the first, but towards the end,it turns out to be an elaborate setup to fuck with Jigsaw and kill him. Maybe by one of his surviving victims.

it seemed like an Outer Limits episode on tv.
I have to admit that the movie looked neat but yeah that dirty New York setting is pretty much cliche. I rented Demme's Silence of the Lambs for something more suspenseful afterwards (and better acting). I didn't think Saw was twisted enough. Seven is a much better movie.
