FIFA World Cup 2010

The red card was pretty justified as well...

Absolutely, he kicked him when he was on the floor, disgusting behaviour , one thing I've noticed about some South American teams is that they can't keep their composure, they lose their temper very easily and thus their initiative and ability to set the game.

The Dutch were vastly superior as a team, they kept their calm even when they were down and in the second half they could have scored a few more times easily.

I'm extremely happy, I can't stand Brazil, their superiority complex, arrogance, which today proved to be their undoing.

Now I can only hope Germany sends that crackhead and his team back home tomorrow and maybe we can keep the cup in Europe.

Couldn't agree more about the dutch keeping their calm and playing like you expect a world class team too.

At too many points I just saw brasil pushing their luck further and further and no good coming of it... maybe they were shocked at how strongly the dutch came out after half-time but that's no excuse.

The dutch did great to take it all in their stride and come out the clear winners, in all respects.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the Brasilians where pulling the Dutch shirts A LOT. All credit to the referree who was keen to keep playing going, but the number of fouls he could have callled... not enough fingers to count them on,

Anyone notice that all the star players of Real have disappointed in the tournament, first and foremost, Ronaldo, then Kaka, Higuaín, even Castillas.... Those of the top of my head.

Just saw about it on the news, can't believe they missed a penalty in the last minute of extra time. An African team in the semis would have been brilliant.

I hope Robben can avoid standing on landmines in the semis against Uruguay. Poor chap couldn't stay on his feet at all in the game against Brazil. Anytime anyone breathed on him he was writhing on the floor. No wonder he was stamped on! Now you can cry ya c*nt. Take that! Ha ha.
Still, well done the dutch. Will be great to see you in the finals.

Fuck. Just got back from the pub for the Ghana match. Absolutely gutted (I live in the biggest Ghanaian area in the UK, probably - I couldn't even get into my first two choices, had to go to Wetherspoons, and everyone there was supporting the Black Stars). Had to walk home past streets full of sad Ghana fans :(

Such a tragic way to go out :(, they were playing such good football for a while there. Keeping it on the deck, long through balls from the midfield. Really good to watch.

But you could tell they were never going to win the penalty shootout.

I wonder if football needs to revise its penalty rules? I mean, the ball was 100% going into the net; but the penalty was the same as if he'd hacked someone down who was 1 on 1 with the keeper, which isn't a 100% chance by any means. Maybe take the rugby concept of a penalty try - if you stop something that's blatantly going to be a try, then a try is awarded anyway. Because a red card and a penalty wasn't nearly enough for that offence.

Oh well. I'm not unhappy for Uruguay because I like Forlan, and it's nice to see a formerly great team revive. But still...poor Ghana.

Yea makes you think doesn't it, I woudn't be against a rule change for blatant cases like his.

It was out and out cheating by the Uruguay player which was the fucking pits really.

I really hope Uruguay see it through to the end. Such a small country with only 3.5 million inhabitants. Would have been nice to see an African team finally in the semis, but, that 120th minute is what makes football so special...

That was madness right at the end there! I know it was flagrant cheating but who can say they blame Suarez? If he hadn't done it his country were going out of the World Cup. It's harsh on Ghana but in a nothing to lose situation like that I guess actions come out of desperation.

Really happy my adopted Netherlands knocked out Brazil too :D Hopefully they go on and win it cause I don't really want to see Germany or Argentina win.

Dude.........were you watching the same game as me? Robben was getting so much rough treatment from the Brazillian defence and midfield - so many cynical tackles on him. Dunga ended up subbing Bastos because it was clear he was on the virge of getting a 2nd yellow card (and rightly so).

I thought Brazil played far better football than Holland (especially in the first half). Both of Holland's goals were pretty freakish. It's amazing that Holland have got to the semis without really playing well so far in the tournament. Of course, now you have to fancy them to get to the final (where they will lose to Spain).

Well done Germany! Amazing performance, they totally outplayed Argentina. I would never have bet on 4-0 before the game, can't quite believe it. Such an organised and efficient team, no heroics just incredibly solid football all round.
