Whos everyone supporting?

Looking forward to Fridays opening games...

Since Ireland did not qualify this year I will be watching all of the England games with a keen interest. Hope they do well.

Im thinking Spain for to win but i got feeling Brazil will perform out of this world.

I think iniesta is injured, if so that will he a huge loss for spain

loads of freak injuries so far - ferdinand, nani, ballack, drogba, iniesta etc etc

should make for a very interesting finals... i know everyone keeps going on about it but i really think if rooney doesnt perform or gets injured that england will be leaving south africa very soon - he hasnt been playing that well in the last few months

ill also be supporting anybody who plays france, im still bitter about how the cheat henry cheated his countries way into the finals at ireland expense. scum.

Supporting New Zealand, of course, but knowing we're going to get kicked very badly :)

Continuing my support of Spain (started in 98) as a second team. Will also back England as I live here.

Think Spain could just win this one (controversial, I know :D) - they have so many good players, and so many different options. England have a few great players, but as RA says, without Rooney they haven't got much scoring potential. But they DO have a smart coach...

Going to be great: could everyone check in here during the games so we can banter and talk shite? :D

ENGLAND

Then once we get owned by Nigeria or something, Spain or Argentina would be my second choice.

Really looking forwards to quality football matches every day for weeks. %)

I think his injury is only minor - might keep him out of their first game but that's all. But even if they were to lose him, their options in midfield are still amazing - Xavi, Fabregas, Alonso, Busquets, Silva - all players who would walk into most national teams.

I reckon the current Spain squad must be one of the strongest national squads ever assembled (check here if you need a reminder). They're rightly the favourites for the tournament IMO.

I'm backing Argentina but i'll be supporting anyone who plays France, cheats.

Can't wait for it to start and the beer deals in Sainsbury's makes it all the better.

I'd like england to win but I doubt they will. I think the USA v England game on sat might even be a shocker. Really hope I'm wrong though. I have a 11quid free bet on spain (favorites) to win, so hope they do obviously! Would win 44quid. They owned poland the other day in a friendly :) 6-0. I had a bet on for over 5.5goals too, get in.

Also watched the Portugal match and had bets on for them to win, and the score to be 3-0. Ended up canceling the bets out for a small loss when it was 0-0 at half time though, regret that...

The Spanish team is just ridiculous, they also have over half the squad playing for the same 2 clubs, almost all of them playing in Spain and it hasn't really changed at all since the Euro. They just know each other so well.

The Dutch team is also incredibly good, I'd really like to see them win the cup if England don't make it.

Just hope the bloody vuvuzela doesn't ruin it, can't stand that sound.

Fucking hell!!! - I've just seen David Silva's goal against Poland 2 days ago (Spain won 6-0). The interplay between Xavi, Iniesta, and Silva is unbeleivable - the move ends with Iniesta exquisitely scooping the ball over the Poland defence to Xavi, Xavi rolling the ball across the goal to Silva, and Silva tapping it in. No wonder the likes of Arteta and Bojan can't even get in the squad!!!

Here's the goal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt7WePhev9s&fmt=18

Naturally I shall be supporting Ingerlaaaaand.

But have had a bet on Brazil at just over 5/1(6.2) considered Spain but 4/1 looked a bit short, still in fairness they are the team everyone will probably just about fear the most, but Brazil has a strong defence and an excellent goalkeeper, plus i think everyone (or some people) have kind of forgotton just how good a player Kaka is, Fabiano for golden boot too.

I might back USA at odds of 7.4 only a couple of quid... anyone would think i don't want england to win, lol

It's a good price 7.4 to be fair, should really be more like 6.4 imo, draws probably the best way to oppose England mind, Capello doesn't lose many games and the USA defence is pretty suspect.

Fancy that a Scotsman not wanting England to win, has this ever happened before ? :p

I'll be following England with a sideorder of Portugal and Brazil. Realistically, England have no chance. Decent squad but it's unbalanced and the only players with any real class (Joe Cole, Rooney and Gerrard for the record) are either struggling for match fitness, a total liability or ludicrously out of form. One thing: England will regret not taking Scott Parker. Look at how good Raul Meireles is for Portugal or how good Gatuso was for Italy. Those sort of players make the diffetence in these tournaments and Parker had been on such a rich vein of form in the Prem.

Brazil have to be de facto favourites; their squad oozes class in every position and they always hit the ground running, something which England never do.

Portugal have to be a reasonable outside bet. They've got plenty of talent but Ronaldo's their only real goal threat and they don't seem to know where to play him. Is Liedson in the squad still? He used to bang them in back in Brazil but is probably a bit old now.

The mighty France lost to China last week. Here's hoping for a quick, embarassing exit for. I doubt that clown Domenech will disappoint.

Finally, on a different note, how's about those exclusion zones guaranteeing the locals will benefit not one rand from the games? Thanks, FIFA.

Just been messing about with a predictor -- it's going to be interesting what happens in group G as the winners will probably be England's semi-final opponents assuming we win the very likely quarter-final with France.

I got Portugal as group G winners after beating Brazil in the group, with Brazil going out to Spain 9-6 in the second round ;). Ended up with Netherlands vs Portugal QF and, wishful thinking, the Dutch winning to meet England in the semis.

Will be supporting England of course, with Netherlands as my second team if/when England go out - Hup Oranje!
