btw, yesterday Stephanie caught Nick talking to one of her main distrubutors. She thinks Nick is just trying to place his inferior merchandise in boutiques. Will she discover he is actually cornering the market so as to leave the the Forrester family out of business just as they launch their new designs? What will happen next? Tune in 4.30pm today to find out.

On topic - YAY FEMINISM!

Hilariously accurate.

Bluelightfuckin.

no it's not. I never had any "mental breakdown" how fucking insulting. Why should i have to justify why i bump any thread? Am i the only one that brings old threads to life on this place? NO. When i do however i get pulled up on it time and time again. I had something to add so i bumped it. I actually re red the whole thing the other day and was impressed with MOST of the discussion that went on so decided to add something and keep it going because it's a topic of INTEREST to me.

I'm also a little pissed off that so much sexist and offensive things were said and wasn't edited and cleaned up because it certainly wasn't put up with in the Aboriginal thread so why this one?

The last few pages of this thread has proved why feminism still exsists and still needs to be. If people want to deem me as stupid or emotioanlly inapt then thats fine. I'm kinda over justifying myself on this place. People that know me know me and i'm sick to death of people assuming shit about me when they really have no fucking clue.

This WAS an interesting discussion but as always the dicks on BL have to ruin everything by proving what ignorant and intolarant PRICKS they really are and that statement goes to MANY of you. All i wanteed was an interesting discussion on a topic that i find interesting. That is all. Fuck me dead.

Oh lord. *cries with laughter*

You realise, you just played right into preachas hands. He's at home now, touching himself and saying over and over again 'You're teh man Preacha! Oh yeah, the BIG man on bl. Mmm, you so big.'

Or is that just my rampant imagination?

Its funny cause its true... on both parts...lol

^ You bumped this thread to accuse many of us of being feminists when in fact we're not!

I really hate when women say "I'm not a feminist but...." ummm yes you are! Deal with it and be proud. It's not a dirty word for fuck sake.

Many people desire an equal society; there are many schools of thought and areas of study that target such a notion.

People may be into egalitarianism, for example. They may very well support gender equality, at least to some extent, but this doesn't mean they have to call themselves feminists!

When people put a label or two or three on themselves, especially of a kind that supports of social movement, they like to pick the one/s that they feel most attracted to. Many of them weave into each other, and since you should know this, you should be able to respect people's rights to decide for themselves, as opposed to assuming everyone views the world from the same, narrow angle as yourself.

The post above was for doofqueens latest, which she's now removed.

But while I'm at it... GENDER EQUALITY!

Some equalists believe that certain feminists have abandoned notions of equality, and instead focus only on females' rights to the point of excluding/promoting the subjugation of the rights of other sexes/genders. Equalists seek to promote the rights of females, males, and everything in between.

"Gender equity", "gender equality", "sexual equality", or gender egalitarianism is the belief in the equality of the gender or the sexes. Many followers of this philosophy would like to see this term come to replace feminism or masculism, when used to describe a belief in basic equal rights and opportunities for members of both sexes within legal, social, or corporate establishments. They strive for ultimate fairness, and seek cooperative solutions so as to make things better for both males, females and everything in between. They are opposed both to misogyny and misandry, pointing to a gender transformative perspective and the need for a rejection of all forms of gender oppression and stereotypes.

While they may share a number of critiques and analyses with self-described feminists and/or masculists, they feel that egalitarianism is the best word to describe a belief in equality without implying a phenomenological focus on any particular gendered experience.

^^ i very much agree with that doppleganger (in regards to gender equality as opposed to feminism ect) and good post (s)! your a smart girl

Although what i don't understand is why doofqueens posts are scrutinised so much. She is allowed her opinion just as everyone else is and i don't think it is fair that she is so often personally attacked for it. If i was in her position i would be that sick of justifying myself id have stopped posting!! im glad you still do post though doofqueen as you DO bring up a lot of interesting discussion :)

I was under the impression feminists- especially back in the time of the suffragetes- were all about equal rights for everyone, not putting the female ahead of men but EQUAL to them in terms of law, quality of life and any suggestion of otherwise is just total b.s.- at least fourstringmutha just had to babble one incoherrent misconstructed sentence to show how low his IQ is instead of continually complaining about a bumped thread then being bored/asinine enough to actually contribute towards it.

And before doppelganger or anyone else hoohaas about the bumping of threads maybe you could..I dunno...use your brains and start new discussions of your own or even keep out of this one if you dont like it? Is that too hard?

Thats not what i'm saying at all. I'm saying that there are many women who ARE indeed feminists and are too ashamed to link themselves with that label as it seems to come with so many negative connatations.

and i havn't removed any posts so i don't know what you're talking about on that regard.

I also ONCE again do not need to justify why i bump anything and i'm not the only one that does it so why am i the only one you pick up for it? I don't see you doing it to anyone else. I can't be bothered with you anymore as all you ever give me is bad energy and i really can't be bothered wasting my time with your thoughts anymore cos you can't even have a respectful discussion with me without being snide and insulting. Do i do that to you? NO

I know, thats the impression I got too. Feminsim: equality with particular reference to womens rights. In the same way you might have Manism: equality with particular reference to mens rights.

My dad actually says he's a manist, and that he wants equal parenting rights for dads. Even though I think 'manist' is a fucking stupid word I agree with him. Guys should have equal parenting rights, I don't see any reason why men can't be their childs primary care giver.

That makes me a 'manist' and a 'feminist'. Or if you insist a 'egalitarianismist'. Also a bloody stupid word come to think of it.

Thankyou. As i've said before i guess i just must be an easy target. People get their rocks off on it though. I guess if thats what you need to do to make yourself feel high and mighty so be it. Whatever. I'm kinda used to it i guess *shrugs*

Ding ding ding!!!

Lizzy it's far easier to just have a high and mighty attitude and to cut someone elses thoughts down then to think of your own topic to discuss though!

well i'm a manist too then because i am big on having fathers being VERY included in looking after their kids.

I want the same rights as the cat- yes, the common household pet. Fuck working nine-to-five and looking after kids...someone else can feed me and brush my hair and clean up my turds.

Imagine that! Lazing around all day then prowling around at night. Im gonna start a new movement- felinists. Think it'll catch on?

As far as I'm aware, that is quite true. And there are definitely strands of feminism that still have this as a focus today. However, like any form of ideology, there are extremists. And these tend to be the most vocal/visible examples. I know I have trouble relating to an idea that totally favours one sex, to the disadvantage of the other, or promotes notions such as all penetration being equal to rape (just as an example - sorry I can't find the refence right now). I think the biggest problem comes when we lump the many different strands of thought under the one banner of 'feminism'. This is probably why it's such a dirty word to so many people.

Perhaps feminism as a cause is dead. I don't say this because I think it is no longer needed, but because I don't know how much of an impact people championing the feminism banner can actually have any more. Doppelganger makes a good point about a social movement based on the same original tenets, but maybe marketed a little differently.

On another note, can we all remember the golden rule:

Do Not Feed The Trolls :)

And while you're at it, quit picking at people's posts because of personal gripes you have with them. There has been a lot of good debate in this thread. Let's keep it on track, thanks. If you are not interested in the topic at hand, do as zephyr suggested and start a thread on something that does interest you.

Oh no doofqueen, but don't you feminist types hate men? You can't be a manist!

oh of course! I am just an angry, hairy lesbian who hates men. I thought that was just so obvious...
