It doesn't mean anything in relation to the worlds population. The world doesn't need polygamy to keep a steady population.

the thing about feminism, is that it has a very western perspective. It's a Western perspective that says that real worth is gained from being in the public sphere, having a career and earning money. Why can't raising children, and having an active role in the household be just as important as any career outside of the home? I'm not saying that women shoudn't have equal rights to men in the workplace, but why can't women (and men) see that raising kids is also a wonderful job, just as good, or even better, than any other career you could have? It's only a western view that says that this isn't.

I heard a great quote in my anthropology class, that was something like 'Men try and take power over women because nature as given them so much (power)'

I don't think that men and woman should try and be the same. I think they need to accept their differences, and respect each other for the gifts each has been given. Some opinions, such as motiv311's are pretty disturbing. Just because you are the result of something, doesn't mean that it for the best.

Something that is interesting though, is that women worldwide, overall, seem to accept being second to men in the PUBLIC sphere. There are no matriachial societies in human culture.
I don't think this means anything. There role, and worth is elsewhere, in family life. i belives strongly that this isn't anything bad. It's not necerssarily worse, or less equal to men. It's just different.

I actually love girls and women... just not the kind who identify with "feminist" movement.. period. .

But I do feel there are some distinct feminine traits that I dislike... I feel I and other men should be able to voice our opinions on this without feeling like machogynists
 
Noone is a bad person for wanting to exist. I believe that every person, when born, should have equal rights. What makes you think though, that what resulted in your existence, is right simply BECAUSE it resulted in your existence?

Many people have been born out of rape. They deserve to exist, but it doesn't mean that how they were conceived is right.

I think it's totally acceptable not to like some feminine traits. But, I think you should understand that they are TRAITS that you don't like. They may be mostly feminine. but they are simply traits. They could be expressed in males, too. What we like and dislike in other people is what makes us unique, and totally normal.
 
I disagree... feminism is a belief structure that a person mostly decides upon.
I believe any woman raped and impregnated should most likely get an abortion, due to the psychological ramifications of having a rapists baby; without guilt.
Any man with too many feminine "traits" - is no man at all, and probably gay.
I don't think men and women should share much in common, gender-wise. Because women are becoming more and more powerful and involved in the once "male only" workplace, men are feeling more and more emasculated by women who take thier jobs, or become thier boses. Psychologically this can be traumatizing, and men have to just pretend it doesn't bother them.
What was once a unique gender-role men peformed for millleniums, can now be done by a woman; and therefore lessens the value of the masculine gender in society.
By returning to traditional family (stay at home moms) values, I believe both Men AND women would be more happy.
A lot of my friends whose mothers work all the time, were not raised properly. Not only was the mother not around to nuture the child, the father felt worthless because his wife could make just as much/more money than him.... And this insecurity is passed on to his male son.
 
What a fantastically male perspective.

I don't think anyone will debate that giving up a hunter and gather lifestyle in favour of agriculture was good for the advancement of humanity. The same is true of the women's rights movement and a further move towards equality. It's called progress pal, get with the picture.

yeah me too, i find gender based discussions in todays society really interesting (that and sexuality mainly) I like how i stayed out of this one towards the end though and was just a peeping tom. "interesting"
 
but why do we need to change what is natural, and what mostly seems to work?
Females naturally should feel compelled to be caregivers, mothers, etc..

Yeah exactly! Men shouid want to pair up as soon as their testicles have descended and go out hunting for food to feed his permanently pregnant wife so she doesnt have to contribute financially whatsoever as that is YOUR ROLE AS THE MAN OF THE HOUSEHOLD! If you blokes were actually fulfilling your assigned roles then us chicks could actually do what comes naturally to us. Its your fault entirely we are stuck doing both tasks these days.:p;)

I can critisize the gender-gap as much as a please. And your put-downs only further convince me that I am grounded in my beliefs.

If Women can now do everything Men can do...... Then what the hell are us guys supposed to do? Our lives, our purpose suddenly becomes lessened. Men cannot feel important without a special purpose exclusive to that gender only.

Since the feminist movement, guys are basically "afraid" to say/do/act as men before them did. It fucks up our entire psychology. We become disconnected from our true identity and purpose soley as a man.

Its like in the SIMPSONS or Family Guy.... The woman is the one with her "head on her shoulders" ... while Homer and Peter are bumbling beer drinking idiots.. And while I love these shows, I find this sort of offensive.

I believe a revolution is churning, a revolution for men to take thier balls back, .. hit on chicks at work... Let people know what you have on your mind. don't let women control and dominate your life. Don't allow females to use you in any way, including money or drugs. Don't give any girls the key to your place, unless she expresses proper respect to you (THE MAN) for making enough money to afford whatever; car, house, apt. etc.

We are generation of men raised by women. Its time we show the world why it is, and always have been; Men who are the leaders of the world, the ones who make the most money, the ones who accpmplish the most remarkable things in the world.

I believe men and women should be equal. I just don't support feminists, as usually I find they are just fugly and resentful towards men because they get no attention. Most good-looking girls are less freaky liberal....
