Female Gamers

My brother found himself a professional, successful, right-in-the-head girl who loves to play Call of Duty with him, and doesn't mind him drinking and toking all the time. I consider him a pretty lucky dude.
 
An update on my girlfriend. She now plays Team Fortress 2 every chance she gets. She absolutely hated games but the Pyro class in TF2 allowed her to focus mainly on moving around in a 3D environment. It's not like most FPS games where aiming is extremely important. After a week or so of playing Pyro she was able to move around really well and I got her to start playing the soldier. Again the blast damage allows for aim to be off but it does require some aiming.

Now she can play any of the classes better than most people. It took me like 2-3 months of getting her to listen to small improvements in skill. Such as teaching her to crouch jump, then rocket jump, reinforcing reloading every time you have a chance, using high ground for an advantage, how to psych people out, constant strafing, jumping and spinning midair to keep forward momentum while shooting backwards, etc, etc. Gradually teaching her more advanced things.

Slowly but surely she has turned into an uber gamer. I'm so proud of her. She can seriously beat she shit out of 99% of people she plays against just like me. It was a long and frustrating road but I finally have a gamer girlfriend and she doesn't suck.

If any women want to get into gaming I highly recommend TF2 starting with either Pyro or Medic. One of the other perks of TF2 is that it's not like most FPS games that try to pretend you're in some elite military unit with ultra realistic weapons/environments. I've seen more women playing in TF2 than any other game and I think it's cause of the cartoon atmosphere.

Currently we play TF2/Warhammer Online/LittleBigPlanet together.

Oh girl! You are missing out! There are sooo many good games for the GC, and now that they've shifted attention to the Wii and other platforms, you can get so many titles really cheap.

I got to admit that I suck at any game that requires aiming, but then I don't get all pissed off and upset when I suck at something either so it's no worries.
 
I finally bought a ps3 (one of the 60gb bc ones) Primarily for Little Big Planet and God of War when it comes out. Not awful, but the updates take FOREVER.

Now am also doing xbox360 competitions. Primarily for Rockband/Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty close behind.

Ladies out there like BB who are a little shy of getting on the mic, believe me, I was once one of those too. And good or not, we have a right to play just as much as the penis' do. I've been called every name in the book, some that I haven't ever heard before. Gamerchix is a god send for us. Knowing that you're not alone, and knowing that if any guy says anything that they have your back, and that goes a long way.

What's funny that I've found though, is that the guys who are trashing us for being female.... are the same ones who send friend requests after the match.

Anyway.... anyone who wants to play, please feel free to pm me for my gt. :D

You should really check out TF2 then on the PC and play Pyro/Medic. I bet you'd love it. Eventually move to soldier and it'll really help out your aiming skills in every other game.

I prefer my PC. I'm a WoW geek. I've been playing for 3 years now. Finally rid myself of all of my 70 alliance and traded them in for my wonderful hordies that are both 70 and 71. I don't find that guys are skeptical at all. They generally don't know it's a female kicking their rears until they hear me over Vent lol.
However, I enjoy playing on my brothers 360 from time to time. Guitar Hero ftw.
 
girls playing mmo's is fairly common.. in fact I met my wife playing one.. although sometimes it turns out to be a guy pretending to be a girl (my wife was not in this category :P) -_- for whatever twisted reason (usually getting hand outs and being treated differently) but as far as console gaming most i've known that will even play on a console only like old consoles like nes and snes
I think the wii is somewhat changing that a bit though..
just my opinion..
 
I'd love it if my girlfriend actually did anything other than call games a "waste of time" or prefix their title with "shitty", e.g. "Oh, you're playing shitty-Fallout?" She's never played anything with me at all, instead preferring weird stuff like "sexual intercourse". If I want to play a game when she's around, it's when she's asleep and I play with the sound off or my headphones on... :(

I have met plenty of guys pretending to be girls. Must admit that it seems a little unfair that geeks would throw their best items at a 3D model of a female elf or whatnot, just because they're female. Damn sexism in RPGs! I want the free items! :P

If anyone knows any tips on how to get a girl interested in games, then I'm all-bloody-ears. I played 'Assassins Creed' through to the end in silence because I didn't want to wake her. Got fuck-all sleep, too! %)
 
It depends on what kinda gamer chick it is and if shes good. They just need to chill out when a dude playing throws a controller or starts kicking shit because it's normal with guys and video games :P

I find playing guitar hero or rockband/world tour with a chick or more then 1 chick who are good at it bad ass.
 
one of my best friends who happens to be female likes WoW, old school Starcraft and she is pumped for Starcraft 2.

some of the girls from my army unit join us for games of america's army, and red orchestra, I usually appricate it, as they have a sound knowldege of RL tactics, and since they are sitting in the same room, we can yell back and forth and commo better then vent. Also, we form up around our RL ranks and if you tell her to cover your ass in the game, she does it (and ditto if she out ranks you, she'll actaully give everyone lower a co-ordinated plan so we can kick the other teams ass by all working as one, instead of ramboing it up and loosing)
 
how did i miss this thread for so long?

my wife doesn't game. the best i got out of her is a few games of big brain academy and rayman raving rabbids.

edit: oh wait, she wasn't bad at wii sports shortly after we got it (release day)
