[Feedback Thread] How can WE improve on the PD forum? Suggestions welcome!

I second the motion. I just mentioned it because of the simple questions which belong in BDD. I think we should keep PD in one forum but give the simple questions a quick answer and then send them to BDD.
 
Hey Swil, I had an awsome post for that "Which psychedelic to get started with" thread you just closed, I went to post it but the thread was closed by the time I hit the button; I sent it to him in a PM instead. Instead of closing the thread would it just be better to send it to BDD? It clogs up the space on the PD board whether it's closed or just moved but if it's moved it can still be posted in.

Edit: Actually instead of moving something like that into BDD maybe it should just be merged into the B&D First Time Tripper Thread.

^True, true...but people can find that stuff pretty readily themselves. We haven't really decided what to do with basic queries yet, but as far as "What should I take threads"- well, their not happening.

Must think a bit more. :)
 
^ From a harm reduction standpoint, IMHO it might be a good idea to discourage people asking questions like that (e.g. "DXM, morning glories, cactus, or shrooms for my first trip?") from using DXM or morning glories as a first foray into psychedelics. My reasoning is as follows:

Mushrooms are hard to hurt yourself with from taking too much because of the way they're usually sold (e.g. 3.5g), and they're pretty forgiving if the dosage isn't exact, in my experience. On the other hand, DXM may not be safe at all depending on whom you believe, and at the very least needs to come from a clean source. Morning glories might be physically unpleasant and thus cause undue distress for a first trip, increasing the chances of Bad Things happening. My one attempt at a trip on HBWR made me feel like I'd poisoned myself with vasoconstriction bad enough that it hurt to move my legs.

I respectfully submit that if harm reduction means attempting to reduce the possible harm that can arise from drug use, directing curious newbies toward the safer of their stated options before closing their thread would better accomplish this goal.

Possibly a different social forum for people closer to each other. Not the best idea but it gets hard sometimes to find BL'ers around the somewhat local area. You can get close but takes a min.
Then again, I am not a mod, just figured a vague idea that someone may be able to capitalize on.

Have you checked out the regional drug discussions and social forums? They cover prettry much all earthen places (just not the moon damnit) so you'll likely find lotsa people near you...:)

I get you, and its a good point. However, we really don't want to be 'telling' people what drugs to take; thats an individual matter, but we try and focus on how one can take them safely. Of course, we have our First Time Tripper thread, and Basic Questions thread which could help serve that purpose.

you can use my signature to find all the Big and Dandy threads. We are currently working on making a more functional search engine for PD related issues. I'll let one of the mods who understands exactly what it is that is being done explain if they would like :)

If you need quick concise information on a substance tho, thats what Erowid is for <3 we like to ramble here ;)
