To be honest i think its how the music is absorbed into our brains as we enjoy the feelings of playing a certain game. so everyone is going to have a different memory of what their favorite game is based on when they were growing up, regardless if its actually a crap tune in that format *cough*alasdair*cough* :D (even though in the hall of the mountain king by Grieg is a really good peice of music) youtube link to Greg Pattillo beatbox fluting part of that tune!!

perhaps not a favorite, but alot of mario sunshines music got stuck in my head for about a half week after playing it tripping cid and k and one night it got so bad i couldnt sleep for ages, isle delfino i curse you!!!
zelda: ocarina of time and zelda:twilight princess had some catchy tunes. and final fantasy 8 was a real winner because of its cinematic synergy while the music was introduced! good ole final fantasy, that reminds me; i'm gonna find my ps2.
