Favourite game theme tune?

To be honest i think its how the music is absorbed into our brains as we enjoy the feelings of playing a certain game. so everyone is going to have a different memory of what their favorite game is based on when they were growing up, regardless if its actually a crap tune in that format *cough*alasdair*cough* :D (even though in the hall of the mountain king by Grieg is a really good peice of music) youtube link to Greg Pattillo beatbox fluting part of that tune!!
hmm..
perhaps not a favorite, but alot of mario sunshines music got stuck in my head for about a half week after playing it tripping cid and k and one night it got so bad i couldnt sleep for ages, isle delfino i curse you!!! :)

zelda: ocarina of time and zelda:twilight princess had some catchy tunes. and final fantasy 8 was a real winner because of its cinematic synergy while the music was introduced! good ole final fantasy, that reminds me; i'm gonna find my ps2. :)

The title screen music for Mario Paint is just a glorious melody.

I think Koji Kondo, the composer who wrote most of the music for games published by Nintendo, is an unsung musical genius. Some of his pieces rival anything penned for the Boradway stage by Great American Songbook composers in their sweeping, moving quality, IMHO. I say this because his style was obviously highly influenced by this music -- Gershwin, Mancini, and their ilk.

MDAO, I can't tell you how much you rock for bringing Mario Paint back to mind. <3

My opinion, Galaga's theme might just take the cake for me.

street fighter II has some excellent tracks

the closing theme to portal deserved all the awards it got.

Old school Road Rash on Playstation 1 or 3DO<---anyone remember that :)
was the first game to incorporate fdully licensed music into a video game...i remember there being monster magnet, soundgarden, suicidal tendencies....that was a sick game anywya....it needs to be redone on next gen systems....

The original Zelda underworld theme rocks my fucking socks off.

Thank Christ for ocremix.org

they're all annoying. ;)

load game for the first time - hunt for sound options - switch off music.

i'd rather listen to my own damn choice of music, thanks.

^ This just means he's not played games that come on a cartridge or a tape. Thus, everything he says is an absolute load of tit-wank-bollocks
