Favorite science fiction movie?

bladerunner
the matrix
gattaca

and i really want to see solaris.

oh and dark city cos i was late to class the day that they were screening it and hence missed half of the movie.

Enemy Mine is a great flick... but you should try reading the book.

Obscure All Time Favorite:
Brainstorm

Lots of excellent choices, but I'll be that guy...my favorite still has to be the Star Wars trilogy.

some personal favorites I don't remember seeing listed...
A Clockwork Orange
Sleeper ;)
T2: Judgment Day
The Abyss
Back to the Future
Brazil
Predator
Starship Troopers :D
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Was I the only person who thought Solaris was overrated?

For me:

Serenity
Alien/Aliens
The Matrix (not the last two, and it would have been better if they'd just made a movie of Neuromancer)
Equilibrium
*edit* Holy crap how could I forget Starship Troopers (NOT the second one)

I can watch repeatedly and never get sick of:
12 Monkeys
Contact
2001 (although it is a task)
A Clockwork Orange

Imma go with Tarkovsky's Solyaris and Alphaville. How unoriginal of me.

Primer was pretty fucking good. I haven't enjoyed a sci-fi movie as good in quite some time.

Gattaca
Stargate
Star Wars series (of course)

These are the only ones i can think of that no one has mentioned yet, and i'm surprised no one's mentioned them.

I think Gattaca and Star Wars have been mentioned multiple times...not sure about Stargate. All are great, though.

God yes. I love how they took Heinlein's book which was a right wing piece of shit, bordering on damn near fascism, and made a very critical satiric left-wingish movie.

Haha he would be rolling in his grave :)

I thought the movie adaption of Sphere was really good as well. Captured most of the aspects of the book well. Pity Crichton is an ignorant nutjob.
