I didn't say he never mentioned Hitler, the point is we don't know the context and it's not a reliable source that can be trusted to report in an unbiased manner therefore I don't vest much weight to it. 'UKIP MEP says Hitler achieved a lot' generates a lot of paper buys or web page clicks, so whilst it may be entirely true he said that we are missing the crucial context that is required for it to form any sort of evidence for an opinion if you are thinking logically.

If we saw the entire talk and he spent the whole thing talking about Hitler then I'm going to be like 'yeah wtf this is a bit queer for a suppossedly non-extremist party'. However if we saw the entire talk and he just happens to mention Hitler amongst many other people as part of a workshop on oratory then it's not going to make me think twice and in fact if Hitler wasn't mentioned I would be thinking this dude is either just ducking him for political reasons or completely missing one of the most important examples in history. 'UKIP MEP delivers balanced presentation on public speaking' doesn't wash as a media story though does it so it will never be reported in that way.

Evidencing your beliefs based on such a source whereby you don't know the correct context and you're failing to take in to consideration the idiosyncracies of the reporting agent simply because they happened to have pulled out a quote saying 'Hitler achieved a lot' is just silly though. Hitler did achieve a lot, he turned a broken nation on it's knees economically, militarily, politically and emotionally in to a powerful driving force that was the catalyst for possibly the most important and disruptive period in 20th century history. The rights and wrongs of every aspect of how he went about doing that are an entirely different discussion, but if the most controversial quotes they can manage to pick to sell papers is a section about how good he was as a speaker and motivator of the public then frankly it actually make me think it was probably a pretty balanced take on the subject because that's an undeniable fact.

Mentioning Hitler isn't illegal you know, my mum teaches about him to school kids every day.
 
If you're not capable of basic critical thinking (like your average person) then I guess that might be a normal response.
 
I can tell you right now that if I was asked to write a scholarly assignment on whether UKIP are an extremist party and I presented that link as part of the discussion I would be laughed out of town. It has no validity as evidence in either direction.
