"I have thrown my hat in the ring," UKIP leader @Nigel_Farage tweets, confirming plans to stand in 2015 election

No real surprise, but the very fact he's doing it shows he believes UKIP are finally a viable choice at next year's Election.

Any thoughts? Beyond sheer terror at the (very real) possibility of this guy ending up as the Nick Clegg figure in a future UKIP / Tory coalition government?

If he gets more than the tiniest of protest votes in a general election it really is time to consider emigrating :|

Not sure if that would count as a Good or Bad Thing in UKIPland. It's emigration not immigration so they should approve. On t'other hand, I'm not Eastern European.

Or Central European - he's not a fan of Czechs or Poles coming to these shores either (tip: never call a Polish person 'East European', even if they're from the easternmost part of the country).

It's hard to see what this might portend - as you say, it could well be the smallest of protest votes from disaffected Tories and unattached xenophobes.

Then again, where are all the Lib Dem voters going to go? I know a certain percentage will scamper back to the bosom of Labour, but the Orange Book types who knew what they were actually voting for with the Lib Dems? You'd naturally think 'Tory'. If the Tories fail to gain a majority from these votes alone, they have a willing coalition partner in Farage, even if he only garners just enough votes to tip things over the edge.

Could be a good thing, could be a Very Bad Thing.

Not meaning to sound racist or anything :p but what (about) UKIPs policies do you find most.. shit?

Sorry SHM but that article, about that thing, is nothing.. Hitler was a great speaker.. I think this was more a case of reporting a certain thing in a certain way (in the case, a quote with no context to headline an article about a guy saying hitler was a powerful speaker with miss angry at everything joining HITLER and GREAT with KILL THE JEWS).

Apparently everywhere, all around me. The Lib Dems little office is just down the road, and we are under the control of the liberals locally yarrrrr, everybody loves them.

I thought UKIP did not even have a manifesto? Did it not just contain, "Out of the EU" and "Close the Borders", until recently, or are they beginning to now work on other policies? :?

EDIT - Ah, so its owen... was wondering for ages.

If I could make sense of what you are saying, I'd reply.

Owen...I dunno man. Just seems there might be a few more people UKIP could choose to emulate before Mr A Hitler? Might make people think they are less mental? "Churchill, great rhetoric!" Ya dig?

Ok then what's your answer to:

Out of interest which bits of what he said would you say were untrue/unwarranted/unpleasant?

Oh right Cat is Owen..

He isn't saying Hitler's ideology was what should be emulated.. He's talking about the way he composed himself, the way he spoke.. not what he spoke about.

See post 11 and try to keep up.

I preferred your raccoon/gallows posts btw.

Oh you quoted post 11. Well done. We're finished here then.

Do you not think that there may be an element of context removal in that reporting? If you're running a workshop on great orators as matey was then really you would be missing a trick if you don't mention Hitler. For all we know he did an hours talk, mentioned twenty other people and just happened to mention Hitler because he's clearly one of the best examples of influential public speaking in the modern world.

I'm not passing judgement in either direction, just applying a little critical thinking...

Before I become known as an ignorant UKIP bitch.. I don't support UKIP.. I don't support any of them..

I'm just interested in why UKIP (well, UKIPs policies) are seen as complete shit.

They're all complete shit. The wankers we have no are laughing about the gap between the rich and poor getting bigger, the most vulnerable losing what little they have while the fat cats gain it and the slim to nil chance of any come back..
