hello-
that's great that phreex is showing signs of improvement, i'd love to hear one more sarcastic comment from him, they amused me very much.
love in vein- i am one person who commented (on the first page) about phreex's knowledge of drugs and how i was suprised he overdosed. yes, i understand heroin use and how it numbs you to life. my comment meant to point out that while it is very possible to overdose with all his drug knowledge, i would choose to think maybe it was a conscious choice. and if that's what he wanted, its his life, his choice.
i just hope that for him and everyone involved that people learned something, otherwise, whats the point?

Don't disrespect your brother by saying things like this. Though he was admittedly not a good example of responsible drug use, he tried to be. Saying that there isn't any responsible way to take drugs because it is bad for your health also implies that any lifestyle choices that are bad for your health are also responsible. Thus, I could claim that there isn't any responsible way to eat meat, or to eat certain types of processed food, or play sports such as football that have a high injury rate, or to sleep less than 7 hours a night. Besides, I doubt you'd agree that there isn't any responsible way to take the very commonplace legal drugs alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine. Do you think that the hundreds of thousands of children who take ritalin or adderall (pharmaceutical speed) for "ADD" are taking drugs irresponsibly? Do you think that the AIDS and cancer patients who use medical marijuana in order to eat are taking it irresponsibly?
Taking a drug is not inherently irresponsible anymore than other risky lifestyle choices are irresponsible. Not all drugs are significantly detrimental to your physiological health, though it is true that any drug CAN be detrimental to one's psychological health if one uses it irresponsibly. However, if one suffers neither appreciable physiological nor psychological harm from their drug use, and it doesn't interfere with their personal obligations, then I think that person qualifies as a responsible user.
Anyways, I don't really want to drag this thread off topic. My love goes out to Dave and his family. It's great to hear this news, and hopefully Stay Strong!

PhreeX didn't use all that much heroin, btw. He was more of a general opiate user.
That is FANTASTIC to hear about his improvement. Made my day. I'll keep on hoping. This experience might just turn his whole life around for the better. :)
Ashlie and Family...stay strong. I admire you for standing by Dave after everything. He's so, so lucky to have you.

PhreeX, you have my utmost respect and support.
I would like to know if it was a suicide attempt. Or had he attempted before? That is if someone knows and it does not go against the wishes of DavesLilSis for it to be posted. I think only the information that the family feels is appropriate should be posted.
Many of us consider PhreeX to be one of our one. And I am glad we have come together as a family to support him.
Perhaps one day, regardless of our lifestyle choices, we will all care for each other this way. But then again, maybe we can only feel this way about our own.

I'll be looking forward to him posting here if he ever gets out. I understand he is still on a life support machine to this day. I will be very interested in finding out exactly what happened on that day. What is all this talk of people ODing on low dosages? I thought the more you take the higher your tolerance becomes??? I am behind phreex on this one though. I would be happier that he got a second shot at it.

To Ashlie, I recognize your attempt to make people think about the choices they are making with their lives. I applaud you thinking of others in your time of despair.
To 5-HT2 and everyone else, you must realize that Phreex's family has been faced with the possibility of losing someone they love very deeply. The reason for that is drugs. What Ashlie has said is completely valid if for that reason alone. What she is offering us is a different view and I think that there is no better time for us to consider that view. We owe the situation as much.
I was not a friend of Phreex's but I'm thinking of him often. He touched so many people in some way and that's obvious by the replies to this thread. I wish him a full recovery. And to his family and friends I wish comfort. You have more support than you know.

More good news!! David understands what we're saying. The doctor asked Dave to grab his hand..and he did. The doctor asked dave to stick out his tongue-and he did..so he understands us! However....after my mom had been holding his hand all day in the dark room...the doctors turned on the light...Dave looked at my mom..and took his hand away. This happened two more times. After a while my mom asked him if he knew who she was...and he just looked around the room -like a scared lil rabbit. Finally she said, "Dave I'm your mommy"...Dave looked like he had no clue. So, he does have amnesia. For those of you who visit...tell him who you are...b/c he's kinda freaked out by it all. Other than that--Dave watched cartoons all day..and continues to improve..his breathing is still weak...but he's doin good. Thanks to everyone again

Great news. Although I never met Dave, his impact was felt all over Bluelight.

Ashlie my thoughts are with you and your family. I can only imagine the pain you must be going through. I think I speak for everyone here when I say how greatly we appreciate the updates you give us regarding your brothers condition. Hang in there and hopefully keep the good news coming.
