No no no, it applies to France and Spain also..basically any country we've had extensive wars with. But no, I think France are diving bastards too, Henry especially. Spain aren't as bad but still do a bit. Portugal even dive but for some reason I have an affinity for them. Probably just how much I liked Nuno Gomes in 2002 World Cup..Or because, due to Henry, Portgual were unfairly knocked out of the 2006 World Cup. And I supposed I'm still bitter over Northern Ireland getting knocked out. There was some hope when there was the possibility that they would disqualify Spain for some reason I cannot remember which would have meant we qualified.

I don't much like club football so the international tournaments are the only time I have a chance to get enthused so let me wear myself out with senseless talk :D
 
Firstly: Come on Croatia! =D Anyone else love Slaven Bilić? Aside from being a very shrewd tactician (his game-plan against Germany was perfect) he evidently has also instilled a tremendous sense of unity within their side. And he has a degree in law & plays guitar in a rock band. What an absolute dude he is. %)

Secondly: what the fuck Italy?! You still wouldn't count them out, but they look dodgy as hell so far in this tournament. They should really be putting teams such as Romania to the sword. Not to take anything away from the Romanians, who are a very solid unit, but Buffon's save & some good crosses aside, the Italians didn't give them much to worry about....

Thirdly: Holy Shit Holland! :D They're in devastating form so far. To put 7 goals past the 2 teams that contested the last World Cup final is mightily impressive.

It all means that France v Italy is going to be an epic, must-win encounter; assuming that the Dutch beat Romania, of course.....

Hoping Spain can continue firing on all cylinders tomorrow. Fantastic tournament so far. :)

They played absolutely awful. I expect to see a pounding of Austria. Except for Lahm, Schweinsteiger, and a bit from Podolski, the whole team looked like they had been out drinking the night before. It took me 20 minutes to realize Klose was even playing. And Lehmann, wtf was that shit?
 
Germany will still win. Traditional slow starters. Either that or France or Italy (if either of them qualify). The Dutch and Spanish will have shot their loads too early. You heard it here first ;)
 
I wonder what the odds are for Holland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Croatia are for winning.

Might back the underdog on paper before they really shine
 
Whew, Spain were fortunate to get a win today. Brilliantly taken goal by Villa, but on the balance of play the Swedes deserved a point, I think.

Why the fuck Aragones doesn't have Fabregas in the starting line-up I just cannot fathom. When your team looks short of invention & imagination in the middle of the field & you have the best orchestrating central midfielder in Europe at your disposal it's loco just to use him as a sub. Stupid old bastard.

why do I always tip the czechs to do something useful... like get past the 1st round of a major tournament... sigh.

No suprises that Portugal rested quite a few players for the Suisse game. Switzerland really aren't a bad team, and showed that they can mix it up, even if it was against an understrength Portugal...
