English Premier League football

What a comeback! :)

United looked great at the start, winning the 50-50s and putting some real pressure on, then lost it completely after Milan scored. You'd have to say that the injuries to Gattuso and Maldini hurt Milan a lot, but fuck it, we've got 7 first-team players out injured. After we scored the second, I was convinced we'd get a third, probably from a deflected O'Shea header in injury time. Disappointed not to see JO'S get the winner, but I'll take Rooney's goal. I guess :D

Fletcher for our man of the match? He was everywhere. I take back everything I said about him (although I'm still half-convinced that this D Fletcher is really Darren's identical twin; or an experimental football playing robot).

The second leg should be fascinating. Milan will score for sure, so United will need at least one. Really looking forward to how both teams approach it. (As for Chelsea-Liverpool; maybe they should just run laps of the field for 210 minutes and then have a penalty shoot-out - it would be about as interesting ;)).

I reckon Keano has taken his Face Off . . a la Nicholas Cage;)

Great to watch... could easily have been the final and probably will turn out to be a better match than the actual final.

Another defender ruled out for the next match though, Evra. United finally upped the pace a little bit in the second half, that together with Gatusso not being there anymore really hurt Milan, they needed a lot more fouls.

One of the most brilliant moments of the evening was Scholes his pass to Rooney on the second goal, beautiful.

Even better that the ESPN commentators had spent the previous five minutes saying that Scholes was shit and should be substituted.

(Trying to look on the bright side): Evra out, but Heinze can move back to LB where he should be anyway. G Neville can come back and play RB. It means playing JO'S at CB, but I'd probably rather have him than Heinze there.

This really has been a weird season.

The premiership is between Chelsea/Man Utd
The FA Cup Final is between Chelsea/Man Utd
The Champions league final looks like being between Chelsea/Man Utd

Don't remember seeing anything like this before!

Football eh, bloody hell!

United 2-0 down at Everton, win 4-2! Bolton hold Chelsea 2-2 and United lead by 5 points with 3 games to go!

Secret weapon O'Shea gets the first goal (and 2 minutes earlier my girlfriend had turned to me and said he was going to score :)).
Philip Neville (is a red, is a red) gets an own goal (Ronnie deserved it, though).
Rooney gets a typical great goal, and the young fella Eagles finishes it off.

Talk about an absolute emotional rollercoaster - first I thought we couldn't win and were relying on Bolton, but as soon as we got the first I was convinced that we could get three.

My favourite moment was watching Rooney celebrate the third goal by kissing his badge - a great fuck-off to the Everton fans who spent the whole match booing him for the temerity of earning them 30 million pounds by going to United :). Followed closely by Rooney and Giggs showboating in the corner to waste time at 3-2 :)

This season has been a real team effort from United, we've had what, 18 different scorers? O'Shea has scored 5 for the season, including the winner against Liverpool away and the comeback goal against Everton away (plus playing in goal against Spurs).

Now to win the league away to City :)

I happened to fire up the P2PTV last night just before half time and it was looking pretty grim for United... so glad I did though because the second half was a great comeback.

Ian Turner's dropped ball in the box from which O'Shea scored started it all... up to that point Everton were looking strong defensively but then they just crumbled.

Rooney's winner was awesome... and as for the Everton fans, they need to get off Rooney's back,.. it's not like as if he'd stayed with Everton he'd ever get the chance to score two goals in a Champions League semi-final mid-week like he did against Milan. They should be happy for him (lol...).

I told my ManU-supporting friend at work a month ago I didn't think United could pull off a treble and I still stand by that... I think it's just too much to ask of them and I don't think they have the depth in the squad to do it this season.

Yummy Champions League mid-week ties coming up... both games should be crackers.

I watched it on replay this afternoon. Awesome game, that second half. Perhaps not the level of play itself, but the emotion associated with that fantastic comeback for sure. Rooney's goal was exceptional - calm, collected. He's almost redeemed himself in my eyes from last summer. Almost.

Chelsea will win the FA Cup. Assuming United make the Champions League final, both teams will need to rest their first team for the final. Chelsea have a much stronger squad, so you will see teams made up of Shaun Wright-Phillips, John Obi Mikel, Kalou, etc playing Solksjaer, O'Shea, Fletcher etc. And Chelsea should then win.

I really hope United can win the CL as well, but Milan will prove a tough obstacle. Once in the final, it's anyone's game and we'd have to be about 50/50. Bring it on!

C'mon you West Ham!! 3-0 over Wigan! Now only in the relegation zone on goal difference... One more win and they should be home free...

Looks like Chelsea won't be getting 4 trophies this season now... they may not even get 2 or 3... it'd be interesting if they lost both the FA cup and in the Champions League ;)

2 gameweeks to go... top stuff :)

Forza Milan!

Please God the Scouse don't win the Champions League! Surely AC can't mess it up again?

I was trying to explain this to my girlfriend last night (watching the Chelsea-Liverpool rematch): "yes, I hate Chelsea, but I hate Liverpool more, even though I respect them more. And losing to Liverpool in the Champions League final would be the worst possible sporting event that could happen. I'd rather lose in the semis than lose to them in the final. Even though beating them would be the best possible thing that could ever happen, I don't want to take the risk of losing - I'd rather Chelsea won, even if they're a more dangerous team." She didn't understand :(

Anyway: Chelsea deserved to lose. They showed no interest in trying to win, so fuck 'em.

United also deserved to lose. A bit unfortunate - no first choice defenders except Vidic, and he was obviously unfit. Neville and Evra would have got forward and put pressure on the Milan defense, forcing Gattuso and Andorssini wide and creating space in the middle for Carrick and Scholes.

But you've got to play with the team you have. Milan played well and United didn't. Maybe next time. We'll have a better midfield pairing, and hopefully another striker, plus a stronger defence. We're putting together a team for the future, that will be around for a while.

I never expected us to get this far - but now that we have, and we had the lead on the first leg, I'm gutted we went out. Oh well. If we win the league, then it was a great season, anyway :)

United for teh win!

Premiership all but sewn up now. Never thought I would say this, but cmon Arsenal!

A draw would do it, so we can cheer for the draw without feeling that we are supporting Arsenal ;)

Anyway, it's really a pisstake of Arsenal to be cheering for them - it's a sign that they're no longer United's rivals, so we can hope they win.

Watched the game in the pub with a bunch of rowdy United supporters, was most enjoyable :). As I said: "Winning the title at Maine Rd, then getting to take the piss at Stamford Bridge before celebrating at Old Trafford - how good is that?".

Not to mention Leeds getting relegated and going into administration...now with any luck the East London Nazis will get points deducted for illegally signing Tevez and Maschereno, and get relegated to, and all will be well in the world ;)

but I like the East London nazis ;) Well Lucas Neill anyway ;) But any points reduction would probably save Wigan... which is a good thing...

It's still possible for West Ham to go down anyway... Wigan need to win their last match against Sheffield United, while West Ham need to lose to Manchester United... Wigan have a better goal difference than West Ham, so if they win, and West Ham lose, then Wigan will stay up...

It looks like it could go down to the wire again this year...

CB :)
