The MBK food court is great.

Street food prices but in a nice air conned and more hygienic (in theory) environment.

I love wandering around MBK, especially in the phone / electronics floor, chatting up all the birds who work there.

Amazing how many dates you can get whilst pretending to be lost or looking for a new phone. ;)

How much did that hotel set you back per night? Looks swish. I've always been on the cheap in Thailand.

Nutter. He stabbed an Australian tourist not long ago, police didn't give shit as he's a big name and a big man (with money). They asked him to help them sorting out paedos, he often posts up pictures of him feeding the strays/kids as well. Recently he bought a mobility scooter for some girl who used to use a wooden wheelchair. He puts pictures up of all the hookers he shags which is a fuck load. Would never be comfortable around him though, looks like the kind of guy who could snap at the slightest thing..
 
Yeah I've seen all that charity stuff he's done and the animals he's feeding.

And the hookers he's shagging.

I don't follow him on FB or anything but threads always pop up about him on Thai forums.

I heard he had admitted to stabbing someone. Kicking folks heads in. Etc.

Was in some national newspaper interview with him, no?

Yet he's still wandering the streets.

Money talks round here and as a former lone shark and night club owner I guess he must have plenty of it.

Scary looking bastard.

MBK is great fun - I fell in love with the Sushi joint when I found it was 90% cheaper just before they closed. Managed to update my xbox game stash for about 80 Baht a disk (I have a chipped xbox). The box on the bottom left - Octopus filled yorkshire puddings! We bought so much food we actually called housekeeping and told them we had a load of sushi that we couldn't eat. I said I would leave it outside the door if they wanted it - two mins later it had vanished :D - Yeah it may have gone straight in the bid .

The hotel wasn't that expensive it was about 12000 Baht a night - ( was really, really nice for a 5star). They have a very posh resturant downstairs but we never got around to trying it - were both big eaters so rather go for something that fills us up than something that looks perfect but leaves you hungry .
 
12,000B a night, that's £240 per night.

My apartment PER MONTH is 8,000B then 2,000B-ish for bills. So 10,000B per month total.

You were paying more per night than I pay per month for my rent and all bills + wifi.

haha - you got free fruit and the blinds were electric though. *Edit* its on special at the moment and only 8000Baht a night!

They give fruit away it's so cheap here.

I have curtains that have a pulley rope that closes them...as good as electric.

I like my place.

Dirt cheap yet I got a sizeable apartment with all mod cons.

Pool and gym. Bar. Restaurants. Shops.

Everything I need. :)

Only daft tourists like you pay those sort of prices. ;)

Your a traveler - do you look at a place and then work out how much you could live there for a month before going? A couple hundred quid a night fit my budget so why not :D
 
Sure if you can afford it then why not but personally I'd rather get accommodation that is nice enough without being superfluous then stay in the place for longer or if that's not possible spend more per day on the traveling / partying / drinking / whatever.

Fuck me you would essentially be paying 360,000B per month in rent. That would get you an actual mansion in BKK. Even somewhere at 20k is super swish.

The hotel for me wasn't superfluous (far from it). I couldn't stay in the area any longer due to flight / work restrictions. It was well within my budget - was in a great location so fuck it :D
 
just had a fried egg and sausage bagel with a cup of tea, good start to the day. lamb shanks for dinner along with mashed potatoes.

back to work tomorrow so get a routine going again, more fruit, veg, salads and less junk plus no more late night eating.
