EADD What Are You Munching On? v. Godlike steaks & shitting candles.

Food is bland without salt, pretty much every distinguished cook on the face of earth would agree with me.

Re the salsa I don't know that's why I asked! Pretty hard to get fresh jalapenos in this country unfortunately.

I remember when my brother was a chef. I used to grab the salt at dinner time without thinking, or even trying the food. The look of indignation and insult on his face was unforgettable.

No it's not! I get them at asda ffs! Also....... nah, ya don't need salt! TRUST ME! I create many dishes without salt. Not a single customer complaint!

If you're not getting any complaints you proably don't have very discerning customers! Honestly, salt (or something to give saltiness) is essential to pretty much every savoury food. Everything tastes better with it.

Wow you can get them at Asda? Not in the one near me and it's pretty big. They only sell generic garbage chilis which is annoying.

Well that sucks for you.
And aren't you the smug one???? Learn to season and you'll know what I'm on about..... SNAP!

Sham man, you're biased!!!! <3

Smug, not really. Not got much to be smug about. I understand a few of the basic rules of cooking though.

Adding spices to things is not a substitute for salt.

Sadie - have you tried making your salsa with Kiwi fruit instead of the tomato ? All the rest the same, chili, onions, lime etc.

It's really tasty, goes great with grilled chicken / salmon. Give it a try :), obviously its just a base recipe but if you add cucumber and/or fresh mint that works great and its really refreshing.

Mango salsa is delish. The kiwi idea sounds lovely too. Anything fresh with heat is on.

Going in the complete opposite direction I have promised a traditional steak & "slice" pie for NYD :\ It'll give me an excuse to get my blackbird out :D It means a bit of fannying in the kitchen over the next day or so and wishing I'd bought one from the local butcher.

We're all about the local sausage in my house :D

Hard to beat a good aul Cookstown.

You mean the Irish version of Richmond's :p Lol, the Man loves those sausages but I have them on a strict ban unless he's been very good :D I don't believe in anything less than 90% meat 8o

Square sausage slice is a delicacy in Scotland, every region has its own special mix. Lorne sausage is dog food, don't let the adverts convince you otherwise!

You're putting me right in the mood for a big thick thick one now... 8)
