Luncheon consisted of ham 'n' Dairylea roll wiv salady leaves. Roll being an onion-laced mini-baguette, ham being just plain breaded ham (mmm... orange gunk, or perhaps that should be: hmm... orange gunk?) salady leaves being rocket, watercress and baby spinach, Dairylea being delish and on offer. Meant to add a few lomticks of cheddar too as I have a large chunk but forgot. I notice Raas posted a linky about Trading Standards having their funding nearly halved, and just as I was seriously considering putting in a complaint about cheeses which pass themselves of as being "Extra Mature" yet retain far too much rubbery blandness to justify such hallowed title. Big hunks of "Extra Mature" Cheddar may be good value but they ain't barely mature let alone wiv extras. I think proper cheese is one of those things that deserves a bit of extra cash spending on it cos you really do notice the difference. Have also noted there appears to be another level of maturity in cheddars of late going by the name of "Vintage". Can only be marketing malarkey surely but "Vintage" cheddars do seem to be that bit fuller in flavour. The "Cornish Vintage" at Co-Op is scrummy <3

Quite a lot this morning... 2 bananas for brekkie, an orange, 2 scoops of whey protein workout powder, salad, omega 3 capsules, zinc, milk thistle, chicken just now

Seen a couple of mentions about this milk thistle recently, its meant to potentiate substances like kratom, but is also presumably benefitial to health in its own right. Can you get it in supermarkets/pharmacies ? I can wiki what its meant to do rather than be lazy and ask someone to explain.

It's supposed to be good for the liver. Not sure how much evidence there is for that but is certainly traditionally used for liver problems and that's its main selling point afaik. I got sent a pack ages ago (seem to have lost it since) and was using it daily for a while. Not sure if it made any difference cos I haven't had liver function tests done but anecdotally it's supposed to be very good for people with liver problems. Not heard of it being used for other stuff but it probably is - liverish stuff is the main one though. Health food places tend to sell it and probably some pharmacies. Also online in all sorts of places.

Ah cheers Shambles, my liver has probably had to work harder than it should have over the last few years in processing various chemicals. I have no pains or complaints that im aware of eminating from said organ but maybe i should give it a bit of preventitive medicine TLC every now and then.

If i recall i used to feel a bit shitty and sick in the mornings after taking it a lot, so stopped. beetroot is apparently really good for livers

I am one of those that am always singing its praises. Have been taking it for about 5 years now and I feel god awful if I stop for a while..but it is best to break every 3 months as with most of these things so you get the benefit later.
It is claimed to;

Provide heart benefits by lowering cholesterol levels
Help diabetes in people who have type 2 diabetes and cirrhosis
Reduce growth of cancer cells in breast, cervical, and prostate cancers

I can tell you that you become fairly umm regular with it and I do wonder if my I.B.S significantly getting better/disappearing for stretches is to be thanked for it too (sorry probs T.M.I). Do not get the shitty cheap brand ones if you are going to take it get a decent brand such as Vogel or my fave Solgar. I also sometimes take the tincture and shove it in coffee it has a slightly barky earthy kinda taste which I grew to quite like.

Here is some interesting reading

That and l-methionine the only ones I religiously take..tweak my other vits and that to current needs..actually better start taking some vit D thinking about it..but your Diet Dan...you are probably pretty good with all that to be honest.

I have been living on mint protein bars...oh and some toast the other day and that nearly killed me thanks to you COLTDAN! Youknow why!

im glad you find my sarcastic cunty-ness amusing =D

Well if I needed any more reasons to give up bleached carb laden lovely toasted salt and sugar laden toasted bread-you gave me one.

I am now too scared to eat toast again and read Bl at the same time as your cunty remarks (hilarious one liner)....unless someone is at the ready to give me the heimlich maneuver.

I nearly died..I really really did! 8o

Oddly specific flavouring but really quite tasty. It may well be suggestion but I really did think it tasted more of melted cheese than of cheese in general. Generic crisp-type bacon flavour but they are rather crispy crisps so crispness of bacon is suggested all the same. I tend to prefer puffed crisps to fried potato slices and did like these. Less gakky than puffed extruded corn snacks. Also on offer so might indulge in other varieties next shop visit.

Waiting on dinner to cook. Is early but gonna take hours. I treated myself to an old-new stewpot at the charity shop earlier. Two quid for a big, two-handled, non-stick pot - quite a bargain really. Now being tormented by currified waftings so been unusually peckish this afternoon. Still gonna hafta leave it at least another couple hours for it to be properly cooked down (lotsa root veg are involved). Suspect it'll be worth the wait though. May have to have a second bag of crisps sometime between now and then though :!

Fucking Ow ! Had a lovely curry prepped for tea - it was a simply case of fry some chicken and add to the defrosted curry sauce I had (still emptying the freezer) - make some breads and serve... Mr Bear decided to 'help' - Ive managed to cut my finger through the nail and to the bone :/ - (just sharpened all my knives today and its the first time in years Ive cut myself).

Fucking ow :( (will not stop bleeding).

I decided to try eating Vegetarian meals 2-3 times a week & boy am I glad...

One of my favourite dishes now - Roasted Butternut Squash & Sage Risotto (with Peppers & Onions):

Whilst I could be fairly sure that must taste really rather good, I can't pretend it doesn't look like a plate of cold sick. Peppered cold sick.

That aside, have seen sage ane butternut squash paired a number of times now. Is it an especially good herb to use with squash? Am thinking of using more squash cos I do like it and hardly ever use it in anything cos don't really know what to do with it other than curry.

The, uh, splatter marks around the edge of the plate really don't help its cause with regards to not looking like peppered sick.

I guess it does look a bit like last nights dinner which has made a re-appearance, I don't notice these things because I spent time cooking it =D

I find both Sage & Thyme go quite well with Butternut Squash. I've not looked up or thought of any other recipes using it.

It's one of those meals that takes 50 odd minutes to prepare & cook but I always make 2 portions & put one in the fridge to eat another day.
