It was rather nice -not a fan of deep frying stuff but just fancied this the other night. We normally order a similar dish when we go for Chinese - we fancied it the other night but couldn't be bothered getting ready to go out so I opted to make it :D. Sauce was simply dried chilies soaked in water and then blended to a paste - cooked that out and added garlic, ginger, soy, honey, sugar and coriander. Dipped chicken in a thick batter and deep fried that - stirred that into the sauce :)

I don't think I could eat chewing tobacco - it smells so strong and having to spit every few minutes.

I didn't eat any mince pies this Christmas. I think this must be the first. I like mince pies too.

The tobacco isn't actually chewing tobacco, it's snus, swedish moist snuff, don't have to spit.

Beans and onion, sounds wrong!

I've got beans. I think I'll have toast and tinned chopped tomatoes for breakfast though. Actually probably beans with cheese melted into it.

Yes, broken glass and tobacco, that's what I like for breakfast :) that's an urban myth!

Didn't have any beans so I had chopped tomatoes with goat's cheese melted into it, on toast. Was nicer than it sounds, although it doesn't sound that bad... like a cheap pizza. Lots of pepper. Cup of coffee now. INSTANT!

I think I'd rather have had your mince pies maxalfie.

Last mince pie gone now Knock, won't be seeing them again until next Xmas.
Actually I may make a point of checking in Tesco through the year to see if mincepies are available year round or not.

They're normally on sale this time of year IIRC. The department I worked in at the Co-op bank had an annual mince pie competition, everyone had to bring in mince pies from different shops and we had a spreadsheet with all the ratings. M&S did quite well.

Looks almost identical to the thing I previously posted but this was Hamour again done in batter and then served in a spicy Thai basil sauce.

I'm supposed to be on a "low residue" diet. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions for nice things I'm allowed to eat? Bearing in mind I have little to no appetite, knowing that anything I eat is going to result in at least some level of discomfort about 4 hours later, so easy to prepare or preferably instant options would be nice :)

When I need to eat but don't feel particularly hungry I normally just have a tin of soup with some bread just to make it a bit more filling and soup is always easy to eat.

Thats actually a good idea, I hadn't thought of getting some soups in :)

@ rogan josh - omlette is a quick option - or for a substantial quick meal, boiled rice with poached or steamed chicken / fish and green beans - if you want it in a sauce a jar of tomato sauce (passata) would be fine (you can get the sieved stuff or blend a couple of tins of tomatoes and sieve them - add a stock cube for flavor (also if you put lemon and ginger in the liquid this will add flavor to the protein your using). Peanut butter on white toast for snacking.

@ rogan josh -
Another hot quick option would be noodles - if you skip the packet of flavoring they come with and use something like a stock cube then they would be fine - you can bulk this up with carrots, courgette etc.

I would be making batches of soups that you can freeze into portions so your only a few minutes away from a hot meal when hunger strikes.

Smoothies would be another good way of ensuring your getting your vitamins from fruits - just stick with your low fiber ones (bananas - water melon - peach) mix with milk if your ok with lactose and some honey :).

Mash potato mixed with butter or sour cream and some steamed poached chicken (or other lean meat).

You could make you own pizza's - floor, yeast, water, salt (all ok) - tomato sauce, cheese and toppings from your allowed veggies

Your probably already aware of what you can / cannot eat but here is a great list - http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/r...on/nutrition-and-dietetics/low-fibre-diet.pdf
