I love steak with homemade chips and bernaise. I love the Liqourice/aniseed flavour of the tarragon. (Cant be arsed making it, only have in restaurants).

It probally is my favourite way to have steak but variety is nice, hence i started introducing this oriental style thing into the mix as i tend to have steak once a week and i get bored with the same thing all the time.

I'm having steak for dinner too, copycat. It's not my birthday though. Thinking about it, my birthday is only just over 2 months away now which has caught me by surprise slightly. This year has gone extremely quickly (must be all the drugs ;)).

Lol. I have once a week usually. Just fancied it today rather than roastie... Which I do love on a Sunday generally speaking. :)

Yeah, will be my first Sunday dinner in 3 weeks... damn parent's going away. Who is meant to do me roasts?! Ham tonight I think.

as its my birthday and all...

Happy Birthday!

I had steak for my last b/day, when I turned 28 last june.

Got a new vacuum pump from my old man too, along with a big bottle of oil for it.:)

Haven't actually used it yet though, think I will do a vac distillation of my 2C-D once I get round to doing the LAH reduction on the nitrostyrene. Should be fun, not something I'm used to doing, and using LAH should be a challenge, what with its air/water sensitive pyrophoric tendencies.

As for the steak, rare...definitely not, the thought quite honestly turns my stomach. Bloody meat is not at all appetizing to me, I like my steak and roast beef well done. Not quite carbonized to the point of conductivity on the outside, certainly not crunchy, but I do like my steaks nicely well done, fully brown all the way through, with the fat on the edges slightly burnt.

What I'm munching on now..just finished chowing down 3/4 of a roast chicken w/gravy. Was good. My folks do a chicken fairly often and share a breast portion between them. With my mom's MS and her mind going she eats next to fuck all now, which means I end up getting to eat almost the entire bird, the other breast plus the remnants of the one they had, the legs and thighs all go to me.

Just waiting for a cherry pie (tesco, didn't make this) to finish baking in the oven. They only cost a quid from tesco for cherry, apple or rhubarb pies, but never mind the price, they sell some truly excellent pies, with a fair bit of filling in them.

I'm hankering after doing a few pies myself though, making the pastry etc. from scratch.

Japanese wineberry and sea buckthorn seems to me like they would go really well together in a pie, with lots of sugar and a bit of honey for flavor, to counter the really tart flavor of the sea buckthorn, those berries are seriously sour, but tasty straight off the bush nevertheless, and there are MASSES of blackberry bushes just a two minute walk from my house, and more still on a nearby playing field. I find a fair bit of ergot too (not going in a pie of course!). I've been doing a lot of reading on that little fungus, and want to try culturing it on agar, mutating it with various mutagens, such as nitrosamines, hydroxylamine, alpha-radiation and others until I can isolate a strain that produces a decent quantity of alkaloids in micronized alginate/perfluorocarbon oxygen-transport immobilized microspheres for growth in liquid culture media in stirred tank or bubble-column bioreactors.

Methinks thats going to prove to be my most ambitious, not to mention bloody complicated project yet.

Time to go check on that pie and find out when its ready. Theres a pot of double cream to drink with it too.
Good job, as I'm still bloody hungry. Thankfully i should get paid tomorrow, so I can go get some chow (and some diphenidine/MXP, been looking forward to my next trip on that, think I'll pick up 4-5g and a bit of the MXP while I'm in town from the head shop)

Last time, on a 3g prolonged 2-day trip session, had my mind thoroughly blown. Fucking amazing stuff.

Had me Higgidy's tonight. Hard to be sure due to having to microwave it but the filling was really rather tasty so suspect they'd be great cooked properly. Not sure they're worth four quid but that's probably cos am used to buying cheap shite in general.

I tend to buy nice steak and then just not fuck with it, although I like bernaise sauce if I can be bothered. It's a bit of a pain to make in small quantities though.

As with all things foody for me, all comes down to what's been reduced heavily enough when I go to the shop. I doubt Co-Op here ever sells truly excellent meat so even at full price it's not gonna be that special. Oddly enough, there is a garage at the other end of town which does sell good quality meat from local farms. Not sure if they sell steak - seems mostly porky things - but if I see any there I'd be more tempted to splash the cash for an occasional treat.

Salt and Pepper wings / special Foo Yung - All the way down to Chinatown!

If you can get to a tesco sham, they usually have offers like 3x2 beef steaks, of various kinds available, for a tenner, which IMO is pretty good.

Not so much a fan of pork myself, although I'll eat it if its offered, not really a meat I tend to buy myself. I like beef, seafood and fish generally, although once in a while lamb chops are nice.

Mmm the chinky sounds good. Might have one tomorrow, theres a chinese just up the road from me that does an excellent crispy duck w/pancakes, and a king prawn in a really hot and spicy black bean or black pepper sauce to die for, the prawns are huge, and always really juicy and tender.

Not had chinese in a while, but I fancy a couple of crispy ducks with a side of those king prawns, egg fried rice and maybe some banana fritters to top it all off, I'm bound to have the killer munchies after my tripping tomorrow, as I always like some green stuff with my dissociatives. Lets just hope my voice doesn't end up too slurred to order=D

I do likes me some lamb but is truly extortionate so is a rare event. You'd think we'd be swimming in sheep-based meat products here in Welsh Wales but not if you don't take out a mortgage before going shopping we don't.

Tescos are persona non gratis around these parts so it's Co-Op only as far as supermarkets go. They do have decent offers on but it's all pre-packed meat. They've started to have what looks like better quality meat on the shelves recently, mind. Expensive as hell but that's where keeping an eye on sell-by dates comes in :sus:
