Well, my fellow atheists have picked this apart better than I could.
raas: I remember you, from way back. You were quite an avid drug user. A lot of people do too many drugs and end up addicted to the bible. Is it possible this happened to you? Cross-addiction at its worst, in my opinion. Do you think you'd have found god because drugs? (Awful comedown, or whatever.) If the answer to that is 'yes', then drugs must be a good thing. I'm told by my Christian friend (who loves his drugs) that there's nothing in the bible to say that you can't get high (perhaps treat thy body as a temple - but 'sacred wine' is going to more harmful than a few Es). Do you still take drugs, raas? If not, then why visit here? Not for one second that I'm inferring that non-users aren't welcome, or yourself.

It's just that there's not many Christian non-users on here. Why did you return, if this could be considered a mistake in your life?
I was very interested in trying different drugs and learning of others experiences with them. Almost passionately, even started to study neuroscience at university. But I never had a drug problem. I took drugs because I wanted to, not because I had too. So I would say there is no relation between my drug use and coming to Christiannity whatsoever.

Mmmmm. Atheists on this board posted earlier that Christians often interpret scripture for their own means, and in a lot of cases that is true. Perhaps this being one of them. Seems pretty weak to me to call yourself a Christian and take hard drugs.
What does he expect to find in the bible? "Woe to you Pharisees! And woe to you who consume 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine!" I think not. Considering the age of the bible, you have to take the verses out of their context. For instance "be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Holy Spirit" in this day and age "Getting drunk on Wine" would be the equivallent to getting smashed on drugs.
No I do not take drugs anymore, that is inspired by the fact I believe in God. They seem more perilous now. For instance, when you are low, shy or have difficulty enjoying yourself out... MDMA becomes very appealing. When you lack enthusiasm, speed becomes very appealing. When you want to escape problems of life, marijuana can become very appealing.
<Not to say everyone who is taking drugs are doing so because they are low, but in my experience people often turn to drugs to replace something they are missing in their lives>
I think it's better to focus yourself towards issues in life, and being productive. Drugs (in my experience), tend to interfere with that.

I apreciate the welcome. No fancy reason. Thought I'd pop in and say hello from time to time! I spent many years posting on this board, across forums. I'm not going to completely turn my back on that... never found another forum on the Internet that i could be bothered with. Liked BL, a lot similar people. New to drugs and interested in research. Tends to attract the more intelligent drug users rather than yobs who want to get smashed at the weekend. Though I tend to post in the P&S board more frequently now, rather than the drug forums.
