Oh oh......

Hehehehe get away with ye "oh oh" lol

Vurt some interesting point. I mean when we look at Nazi Germany. That all stemmed from Hitler using the Jews as scategoats. Been awhile since I've studied this stuff (1995-6) so excuse my ignorance. Germany owed a lot of money from losing WW1. Hitler wanted power n he was extremely clever, using the high unemployment as a way of winning people. Using the jews as scapegoats, we all know the story here, so thus won't go on n on but, by doing so the unemployment in German "rose." In 1933 Hitler became chancellor of Germany n in 1939 WW2 broke out. What I'm saying is that religion played its part here, though may not have been the whole picture. If I remember rightly, Hotler had been bullied by jews n thus formed stereotypical views towards then.

What are your views on WW2 and the part that religion had to play in regards to it?

Judaism is a religion, but Jewishness is an ethnicity. Hitler had a problem with Jews as a race (even though the concept of Jews an an homogeneous race is erroneous) and not with their religion. A lot of the Jews he persecuted had been secular for generations.

In any case, his antisemitism had little to do with the outbreak of war.

Fairly generic but relevant to this thread and of reasonable levels of interest...

The Bible Rules:

Curses
Sex
War
Vice
False Prophets
Slavery

Mainly focusses on those "other" Biblical commandments which get less publicity but seeks to contextualise them within the wider milieu of the time. Ultracheap and repetetive (as so many History Channel series are so expect endlessly repeated illustrative pix n clips and repeated use of sections of comment used in more than one context (cos hey - they meant it in this situation as well as that one obviously) but more interesting than not on the whole.

MSB is no longer here anyway.

Oh but he is... He died and was reborn apparently. Only in paler, more Mexican-sounding form :sus:

Doh! I was looking forward to some flouncing and hissy fits, but you're all being sensible. Bah!

hahahaha not after daily flogging in the pit n the threat of being buried by mount infracto if Satan reared its ugly head. Hah ;)

I wish MSB would return. I've read some of his stuff. He seems very much like Raas. That would be ace :D

Evey

MSB technically can't return due to being permabanned. However, he is currently posting widely on BL under an alt that is rather hard to prove beyond any doubt. It's proven well beyond any reasonable doubt but there is a slim - but apparently very real - possibility he is currently residing in another country and thus using an actually real "clean" ISP rather than just a proxy. The Whitest of Ones is very much on the radar all the same...

Can he not request to be allowed back? When i read through his "MSB Banned" thread someone said it could be discussed in two years. Maybe he's changed? I was banned from a lot of forums n calmed down to what I was in the past. People can change. Why is he coming as alts instead of sensibly going to admin n asking if they'd let him return as Farmaz did as Bodda?

Evey

Farmaz was an experiment (as it were) and managed to screw it up so royally that experiment is unlikely ever to be repeated. Especially not for MSB. Personally, I always rather liked the fella but it takes real effort and dedication to get permabanned on BL so the chances of him returning legitmately are somewhere between zero and none. However, he is currently amongst us in his aforementioned newer, whiter, more Mexican-sounding incarntaion. Kinda like how so many actual Mexicans are called Jesus perhaps. Truly MSB is our lord and saviour. Or perhaps just a permabanned troll who is not quite as far under the radar as he may think...

I'm missing summat here... Why has MSB been permanently banned? I know its off topic, but what the hell did he do to get banned from this place? Short of being a serial killer or a paedophile arse bandit, I thought it was virtually impossible..

I liked the bit where he lorded over the 'scroungers' of EADD and claimed a six-figure salary. Shortly before it was revealed that he was, in fact, on benefits and talking out of his holy arse. Then proceeded to delete all references to his generous income "in case one of you junkies comes begging to me".

What a plank. :D

I have no idea what triggered the perma-ban, but if anybody deserved one for sheer disruptive bullshit, then it's Evey MSB.

In fact, he's the only BLer I can think of who inspired Mailmonkey (fucking Mailmonkey) to PM me with a serious proposal for a few of us to drive up to Leeds and break every bone in his body. People tend to forget those times, but the guy could be a real fucking prick.

^^^^S**** that post n reading Gibz from December 2012, has really got me paranoid lol

I guess Ignorance really is bliss LOL

Edit: I never knew MailMonkey but I've read a lot of his posts when him n Knock were modding, he seemed lovely down to earth - shame I never got to 'know' him.

MSB was permabanned during one of my "absences" but I'd be reasonably sure it was for general abuse, personal attacks and racism. Probably a few other things. More a case of such a massive edifice of wtfness and rulebreaking that it'd be hard to pick out any individual instance to pin it on. People can only become permabanned by extremely repeated instances of rulebreaking despite endless chances to play nice. Even folk like BHM know to take a break for long enough to lose a few points between infestations. I genuinely did get on okay with MSB for the most part but he is apparently less intellingent than some of our other recurrent infections so he almost certainly really did have it coming.

*waves at l** b**c*s*

Vurtual, I kinda think you assumed a lot from my post that I didn't actually say. Also I didn't mention Dawkins. He is an arrogant twat but actually speaks more sense than most IMO.

Sorry (i do do that and then waffle on) - the bit about dawkins was directed at whoever mentioned dawkins though. I was agreeing with you about religion generally, but there are some versions of religions that i could find no issue with at all, and aren't incompatible with rationality science or modern society (eg some quakers or buddhists)

In (Tibetan) Buddhism news...

The Oracle: A 400 Year Old Secret

Yes, it is on the UFO TV channel but don't let that put you off (assuming you have adblock software cos lawdy do they pile in the ads 8o) cos it's actually really quite an interesting doc about the use of "Oracles" in Tibetan Buddhism. This is the kinda thing you'd usually expect to see in an Exorcist sequel but is very much a part of that particular branch of Buddhism's current practice - not only on religious matters but also as an official advisory for government (in exile) matters too. To be fair, the Delai does point out that it's only taken as one set of advice equal amonst others but I for one was not aware such practices were still so intrinsic let alone an aspect of decision-making.

Never revealed much wisdom to me, tbh.

Well, the same as before - if religion was involved in any arena it was as a way to mobilise the masses for some goal related to power. Hitler's anti-semitism wasn't about religion as much as racism and bogus race 'science' - invented and grown by us and america to justify our own genocides and imperialism. In this general sense of the worldview of society, science and politics do the same job as religion - it's just the current set of ideas which has to be twisted to sell the aims of power to the masses.

I'll watch that properly later (and the bible ones - ta :)) - if i remember, tibetan buddhism's a mish mash of indian buddhism and shamanic influences from the Bon-Po, so it's unsurprising to see.

^ Tis very much the "spooky" end of the Buddhist spectrum which is why it's nice to remind folk that no religion is monolithic and all have their slightly eccentric cousins when people bring up Buddhism as being a relatively sane religion. Some versions are, some possibly less so. I suspect the same applies to all religions.
