I'm more insulted that NIN were used as an example of musical genius. Over produce pile of shite on so many levels.
can you read, your grammar is appalling ?? you're embellishing my statements, thanks and all that but it's really not required.
I said NIN made some good music, I'm not the one holding one artist up against another, art and music are a very personal thing. I think you will find I have stated that I have respect for all forms of music.
The original statement was about influence and impact, discussing who is better is no more than a pissing contest.
You totally dismissed both the Pistols and PIL and and indeed Punk as influential to modern music. I've made a number of supporting points which you have failed to respond to in anything other than a lounge type manner.
I referred PILs Metal box album as have been very influential on a number of other well known bands and that it was ground breaking on many ways that are difficult to truly appreciate now as music moves on a pace.
I have referenced numerous very successful and well known bands that have sighted the Pistols and PIL as a major influence from U2 to Motorhead.
I also note that despite judging the music to be of little value, by your lack of response you obviously haven't listened to the album.
To be clear I have my own personal tastes I'm no muso, I like to explore interesting music that crosses my path. I tend not to enjoy modern main steam pop to any extent but some of it is OK.
I have liked Neil Diamond for many years, he has a fantastic voice with real depth and feeling
Apart from my ill conceived views on T-shirts (thanks Dan) and my liking for the more extreme end of industrial music I'd consider most of my tastes as varied and diverse, as I said I have respect for all musicians and styles, Brimz has even had me listening to Hip Hop
I have a feeling that you are not from the UK, the music scene has not followed the same paths as the US, I know little about elsewhere, Punk did not manifest itself in the same way there, although the likes of Iggy Pop and the New York Dolls were a massive influence.
vive la difference...and a little humility would go a miss either
