EADD Music Production Thread: Side B

W00t.

Thanks eclipse. I vaguely remember you posting a track I really liked a while back...Care to post it again?

Anyone with an iPad (preferably jailbroken) check out ReBirth, real cracker wee synth app comes with TB-303, TR-808 and drum machines. Much better than the original synths for working with the patterns and stuff as it's a lot more modern, doesn't sound as good as the original synth but no one will notice. Been making cracker wee acid techno tunes all day, if you knew your stuff and played with this for a while and eventually took the track to the computer for editing/samples you could make some pretty decent acid on it. :)

I've also checked out the Korg iMS20 app but I'm all about 303s so this suited better. Only real complaint with it is that due to it being touch screen it is a lot harder to be precise with the knobs.

arggh that would do my head in. laptop touchpad is bad enough.

good idea though for having a mess around and stuff

Ahw man don't give up! I've never had one of my tracks remixed before :D

Is this inspired by Ghouls and Ghosts ? It's extremely enjoyable. I hope you were wearing your tailcoat when you made it.

edit: that Someplace Else is lovely too, great stuff Albion.

edit again: I've played nearly everything on your soundcloud today, it's super.

Cheers man. I made Black Hole using my shitty headphones and didn't realise just how high the bass was cranked up until I heard it on my hifi. Sounds alright though.

I'm going to listen to your new things when it's not the middle of the night and they can go on the speakers.

Anyone used an Akai mpd26? I'm very tempted to ask for one for a combined christmas and burfday present off me girlf.

Hmm, so in the end I threw in some dough I had for something else and got the mpd32 ie one of these because there were extra knobs, sliders and things and I thought it was worth risking an extra £60 to get the most versatile controller possible:

It's amazing. It's so, so good for reducing the amount of time you're frigging around with a mouse and even looking at the screen when you're using your DAW. I think I spent about eight hours glued to it yesterday and last night, mainly opening old tracks I've worked on and jamming with them / adding things but getting some newly inspired things done too. The pads are great but I can see why people modify them as you have to hit hard to trigger them reliably. That's my only grumble so far.

edit @ Ceres: Only seen them online, never played with one. They do look great, guess what I like about this is that I can spend more time in front of it than in front of the (computer) keyboard due to all the buttons and transport controls.

Cant the hit pads be configured thru (logic im guessing) to have variable velocity?
