aeon flux

brainstorm was good (walken) but I passed out so need to resume.
Did I mention ALL the planet of the apes films? class.

Movie News: The Hollywood studio behind Eddie Murphy’s latest film has confirmed it will skip cinemas, blu-ray and on-demand, and instead be released directly into a giant landfill.

I saw the picture of the trash and have jumped to conclusions - watch 'wasteland'.

Thanks Bear, added to my list.

I watched Lords of Salem last night, nothing spectacular but enjoyable nevertheless.

Also that Death 2000 was a top flick, shocked I've never seen it before as classic sci-fi is my "thing".

Lords of Salem had me really confused - I had the tune in my head for a few days, I was muttering it until my BF got spooked and told me off :D

Watched 'The Purge' last night - could have been a good movie but the idea was wasted - I wouldn't waste any money (bandwidth cough) on it.

you better like it. its one of my fave of Cronenberg's

I've had a huge thing for Spader since about 1985 too, so it's a bit of a double whammy for me

ok crash is cool. I can relate to the eroticism of technology and machinery, a bit less to injury but definitely to medical technology like fixators and stuff. Not fast paced but very moody and offers commentary on fetishism in postmodern culture. Where do I collect my pretentiousness certificate? ;)

Watched Boyz n the Hood for the first time (seriously!) last night, it's a bit dated with loads of cheese but was still a fucking good watch.

Screamers 2 was a decent sci fi horror, although nothing groundbreaking. Screamers 1 was OK but the acting and production were a bit lame. Hard to say if it's worth watching the first one really, maybe watch 2 and then if you're intrigued go back to 1 and pretend it's a prequel. Acting really is guff though.

Enjoyed American Me a lot, based on the true story of the Mexican mafia in LA and how they rose to power in prison then it went a bit pear shaped back on the outside. Interesting bit of (ficitonalised) history.

Aren't there 2 films called Crash?

The Cronenberg one, and the other one that brings all the brilliant sub plots together. "2004 crime drama film co-written, produced, and directed by Paul Haggis. The film is about racial and social tensions in Los Angeles"

The latter is a far better, and much more moving film. (I know Cronenberg doesnt really do 'emotional' other than shock and terror), but i love his earlier films like Rabid, The fly. There was a point where you could tell it was a Cronenberg film just by the style, but he seems to have lost his uniquness on his more recent films that ive seen.

Not sure anyones mentioned it yet but if you want a good British film to watch i can highly recommend Dead Mans Shoes.

Aye Paddy Considine is great. He co-starred in an even better film called In America about his family gradually befriending a brilliant Djimon Hounsou as Mateo who lives in a different flat in the same building. It's a real weepy if you like that sort of thing. Hounsou is another one of my favourite actors. So good in Blood Diamond, Gladiator, and In America. He doesnt seem to get half as much work as his presence and force of character and charisma deserves.

I agree entirely. May have a look for that In America just now, cheers for the heads up.

Watching Election (the Hong Kong triad film), it's fucking good! But GBL means I keep having to rewind it :| It's OK though as the opening scenes and music are great :D

There's the sequel Triad Election aka Election 2 to enjoy afterwards too.
