I don't think you can really think his flow is 'lame', but unique certainly and not to everyone's taste that is without question

I've been listening to loads of Jehst the past week or so. Easily one of my favourite rappers. I listen to his old shit all the time, does he have anything new worth getting???

Also, +1 on the DOOM shout. He's fucking incredible. Too bad he's pretty dreadful live.

I'd never really listened to Vince Staples, definitely liking him. Good shout. I'm also starting to think the new Earl album might be quite good after all. For a while I was expecting it to be shit, or at least a bit of a let down. I'm well out the loop when it comes to current hip hop though, mainly on purpose.


Saw an interview with A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown & Russel Brand the other day. I don't know much about Rocky or Danny Brown other than a few tunes. That Danny Brown is an absolute goon, I genuinely think there's something wrong with him. Proper spazzy. Rocky didn't come over particularly well either but nowhere near as bad as that mongo. Fuck knows why he's considered good.

CRACKHEID & OPIATEROCK; dont go for his newer stuff, it is but a washed out, poor facsimile of the old jehst. go youtube/download 'jehst falling down ep' which contains probably his and ukhiphop's zenith in terms of lyrics AND production, if you want a preview - search 'jehst die when u die' now, the lyrics i (incorrectly) posted above are from that song & its heavy as fuck

if however, you have a free hour & a bit of weed - search 'jehst premonitions ep' which is his historic, quasi-eponymous, cornerstone of uk hiphop first album (the vinyl of which is ridiculously rare & worth shitloads these days) it does contain quite a few skits between songs (admittedly, of jaw dropping beats) but the rest is gorgeous.. search 'jehst liquid diction or independant' for a taste


jehst was a member of uk supergroup champions of nature, you mightve heard their tune 'cosmic gypsies'

aside from that, not too much really :\ youre better spending time searching his old less known collabo's with sundragon, evil ed et al off tapes and what not


two good ones that come to mind... youtube 'jehst seein red' (should be near the top, has a picture of ganja plants on the still and the video is various people including arnie and bobby de niro getting stoned) and 'jehst/kyza nightbreeds' for two excellent tunes featuring jehst at his brilliant best
