The ones in your 1st pic from a couple of days back were mainly
Hay Caps (Panaeolina/panaeolus foenisecii) imo

The one in this pic is possibly a Brown Bell Cap (Conocybe tenera) again imo.

Here's a pic I took y'day for you. I picked some liberties and what I believe are Brown Bell Caps ... so you can see the difference more clearly when they're side by side. Yours might not be one, but it seems like it, just when it's more moist and water filled. The one in my pic is fairly dry

Here's a pic I took y'day for you. I picked some liberties and what I believe are Brown Bell Caps ... so you can see the difference more clearly when they're side by side. Yours might not be one, but it seems like it, just when it's more moist and water filled. The one in my pic is fairly dry

K thanks for that so which ones are the libs the ones on the left? They have a longer bell. They look very similar indeed but one is poisonous?
I've pretty much given up looking for them now the ones that look similar are one in a hundred or so, I find mostly these weird dark brown ones most of the time. Not sure if they'll appear more when it's colder tis still quite warm for time of the year.
Do you have any idea what the ones in my latest pics are?
 
They're definitely not libs, they might be edible though, check Roger's mushrooms, you should be able to find them.

the 3rd from left is not a lib, the rest are. The pic I quoted of your latest ones, was a brown bell cap I think (same as 3rd from left in my pic).The brown Bell cap isn't poisonous, think I mentioned earlier it was classed as 'insubstantial' in terms of being edible.

Dunno what the other light coloured waveyish one you posted was tho, I'll have a look in my book in a bit

Ahh I see they are quite pale and curve inwards more with a more pronouced curve at the top. Yeah I mean the ones I posted earlier today just seeing if you have and idea what they are?:

Well I'm glad that my typing got through to some.

I wasn't being condescending at all - All I want is for people to be safe (being an ex-mod) and that's all I'm trying to get across.
Why would I try get on my high horse when it comes to substances which could very easily be taken and them being the wrong species?
I'm not one to appear "more knowledgeable" than anyone else. All I wish is that people be safe and know EXACTLY what they're looking for.

I know yer not an idiot, and I wasn't an idiot when I was 15, but me and my mate ended up picking up shrooms that were not Liberty Caps.
I'm farrrrrr from suggesting you're "an idiot". But it really doesn't matter how knowledgeable you are prior to picking, you still need experience from someone whom know exactly what they're looking for. There's nothing better than for someone who know what they're doing to point out what to pick.

I'm sorry if I've offended you, but I'm purely being realistic.

haha i'm 21, dude, just late on the game. i got all uppity cause i posted those pics and took your post to mean "fuck off and find someone who knows what they're looking for and bring them along when you're picking"..and that person isn't available to me, hence we picked everything we thought was a maybe, and to get it ID'd here..my apologies for getting hot under the collar.

anyway i took vader's advice about the caps and threw a bunch out... i've separated them into:

the definites: they've got the nipples and dark gills:

the golden maybes, they're the same shape/size as the libs, dark gills, but because they're drier it's hard to tell if they have a nipple, some have bumps that may be inward shriveled nipples, is it possible to tell?:

and the few brown ones that have gone very dark.. they're positioned left to right in decreasing order of how much of a nipple they have:

they're staying in that order while they dry so if you point out which ones to get rid of i can go by the pictures..

edit. i'm noticing number 4 and 5 might be certain no's because of the lenght of the stem? 5 seems to be longer than 10cm

The top photo, the "definites", there's still a couple there that aren't. The large, dark, floppy, flat looking ones. There's one at the bottom, one on the far right, then a couple at the top of the photo. It looks like a couple of the smaller maybes might be libs, but tbh I can't say for sure. The bottom photo, I'd say the two on the left look like libs (see the way they pinch in at the bottom of the bell? Compare that to the sort of floppy hem on the other ones). Hopefully, though, you're getting a feel for this, and as they continue to dry you'll be able to see which ones look like the rest and which ones don't.

Do brown gills indicate edibility? Thought they could possibly be edible ones but then thought they don't look very nice and grow too close to cow pat so would rather just buy them from the shop tbh unless they are some of those freaky looking gourmet ones that grow in the forest.
 
I was taught that brown gills were ok but the chap wasn't a fungiologist so don't take my word for it or his.

I had a mooch around the local shroom field and didn't find any libs. The ground seems about right though ( near London).
 
It's fucking frosting up here already, Newcastle, and they only just STARTED to show up a week ago. 2 years in a row the season has been slow starting, utter shit for a week, then killed off by the frost.

What the fuck is going on with Shroom Season?! :(
 
I wouldn't worry too much about frost this early in the year, it's not cold enough yet for it to get deep and do too much damage underground. They'll be put back for a week or so then they'll be back, assuming no further bad frosts.
I remember a few years ago being worried about early season frosts, then November was mild and the libs fruited exceptionally.
