Yup. Stick some dry stone walling round it and a few sheep in it that would be bang on. Dunno what you call that reedy / grassy stuff but they liked that a lot where I used to go picking, often find a good little bunch of shrooms right where the smaller clumps of it were. Good indicator. Fields I used to go picking in years ago you could come back with a carrier bag full on a good day. Imagine my horror last time I went up there ( and it's an hours walk from the train up a dirty big hill all the way ) a few years back after a long stint away to find the water board had ripped up every single field to put pipes in down to the reservoir. Cunts! :! I'm hoping it's had time to recover.

I've thrown away soooo many psilocybe strictipes over the years while picking semilanceata, only to realise now that I could have eaten them! At least I'll know for this season! %)

Dammit, me too. You're kidding me? We always passed up on 'em thinking they were poisonous FFS! There'd be bloody loads of 'em.

I love you! Saw this years and years ago, never been able to find it since. Nice one! :)

Saw my first crane flies just a coupla days ago. Knew that was a good sign. They always went hand in hand in the fields. The more crane flies there were the more mushies we found. Temperatures dropped sharpish the last coupla days too. Deffo time to get out to the hills.

Oh, and Bumboclaad, empty yer PM box. Had a PM here for you for weeks.

making tea is a waste IMO, it kills one of the actives, and tastes like shite, makes the whole experience duller.

Is that still the case if the water isn't boiling? I normally make tea and just use lukewarm water and lemon juice, but if it is killing part of it may have to start eating them dry.

I've always preferred tea, and whatever degradation there is has never been an issue. Never used to weigh liberty caps but 20-30g fresh cubes and you were tripping your balls off no matter what. If you've got a bag full of fresh caps why worry? Chuck a coupla dozen more in to compensate. I'm led to believe the psilocin content is relatively stable anyways even if the psilocybin is more sensitive? Lot easier on the stomach, faster up, better body high IME and nice, clean, fast exit when you're done. All good. Was put off eating them by my first ever trip when being big old mr psychedlic 'ead who thought nothing of doing 2-3 purple oms / clear panes / black microdots I thought if my mates were doing hundred in I'd want to be doing 200 of the little buggers. BIG mistake, never again.

Spent an hour just laid out on the pavement outside my mate's 'ouse cos we'd been for a walk to get into some night-time outsideishness to trip off, just melting into a world just boiling off into patterns within patterns within patterns, almost full-on dissociation type territory voyaging through infinite space with next to no contact with my physical body. Couldn't see for shit, really speak all that much, no way I was picking myself up off the floor. I was pretty convinced at this point that I was either dying, or already dead. Oddly being dead was not overly concerning. It was being dead and that this is what it would be like for all eternity that really freaked me out.

They managed to get me into the house eventually where I was just confused to fuck, desperate to go to bed but couldn't for the life of me work out which of the three bedrooms I could find was mine, memory of my own bedroom at home just completely gone. Still couldn't work out how to get home even hours later when it came kicking out time at my mate's. One of them had to escort me home, me paranoid all the way he was just after coming into mine and no way was I having that, I just needed to be in bed where I could hold on tight and ride out what was left. OK soon as I was in there.

Never put me off them strangely but taught me to treat Liberty Caps with the utmost respect from then on, was never daft to do more than a hundred or so again and would always test with a lesser dose with a new batch every pick and every year.

I had a mighty freak out one time at a party. Stupid move really, to leave a pretty busy party (busy with arseholes for the most part), go to someone's house & cook up a load of mushies, tan them, then head back. It was all good till we got back to the party. Too many cunts jumping about. Drunk cunts giving it "WHOOOOOAAAA, are you tripping!!??!?!" right in your face etc. Had to get my mate to drive me home before I murdered someone. As soon as I was home it was happy days though, sat there on my own & watched the wallpaper melt for a few hours lol.

Never put me off either, just made me realise that it's stupid to trip in a house full of drunk wankers.

PTCH, as a vague rule of thumb, the older and less human influence a piece of land has had on it the more likely (from my experience) you are to find mushies there. That coupled with either sheep or cow grazing there from time to time seems to provide the best pickings.
Shroom locations are extremely fickle and can change from year to year, make sure you go after several days of rain and cooler temperatures.

They're really similar to places I pick. On a good day some of the Gorse bushes will be jam packed with the little darlins.

Went for a little preliminary search round my usual spot yesterday only to find that the bastard farmer has rotated his crops! :!
The lush grassy cow field where I usually get 'em from is now packed full of hay. :/
Managed to find the field where he's moved the cattle to shortly after, so hopefully I'll find some in there when the time is right.

when i was a landscape gardener peoples gardens often had some of the best pickings, we'd been mowing them all summer, certainly not away from civilisation, and no dung about....in fact when I was landscape gardening we rarely needed to go out in the country looking , we had rich pickings untapped by fucking hippies and scrotes...

Been out on a walk all day and found loadsa mushies ... no liberties today as not at my usual field

We need an EADD 2012 Official mushy thread starting ... Bumboclaad_Warrior, thought I'd mention it here first in case you wanted to start it since you were first up with this one ... I have quite a few photos to post but I'll wait until later and check back to see if anyone's started one ... if not I'll do one and post em there.

jblazingphoenix would guide you through the xperience in a completely unpervy spiritual way.

Missed that one, how very observant MM we are on the same page on this one:sus:

I could change the title on this one of Bumboclaad is happy for that to happen, tidiness is next to no use to anyone, after all :D

I don't believe you are able, but it's your thread I have no reason to go changing the title unless it's OK with you ;)

name change is fine by me if it is bumbo ... and if you're bored, a link to last years 2011 one edited into the first post would be awesome too ..

Gutted. Went all the way out to the sheep fields out on the tops round Ilkley, half an hour's train ride, best part of an hour up the great big hill I mentioned before, not a sausage. Not a single bloody one. Can't understand it. They look exactly like that pic up there, these fields, used to be spectacular for picking. Loadsa different fields, some wetter than others, some drier, some more exposed or more sheltered than others, some North facing, some less so, decent bit of variety in the ground conditions, you know? Cold and wet enough up there definitely. T-shirt weather down in the valley floor but jumper and coat on out on the tops, had to change me socks on the way back. No way these fields have been treated or anything, would just be impossible to even do that with the terrain. Loads of mushies of other types, the kind you often see when the mushies are out, but no caps.

Only thing I can think of is they've been so well known with people letting on over the years that they've finally been picked to death, just completely stripped clean. Not sure it's even worth a trip out in a week or two see if things improve. If I'd found even the odd one maybe, but it looks completely barren up there. Sad times man, sad times. Looks like plan B with some of the 4-AcOs. Wounded. :(

God yeah, I feel your pain Sepher.. it is really gutting to trek all the way out to your field and theres nothing there. Mines far as well.
Take heart though Seyer some years they dont come out til October.
I havn't even looked once yet. Last year I was up there at dawn several times a week from early September :D ( just in case) It was bloody traumatic when we had such a drought dahn sarf. I'm sure it'll be a better year this year though. We might get a bountyful back log if the mushroom queen has mercy on us.
