But OT, I get the best yield after a warm/hot summer in the UK, I reckon our liberty capped friend's mycelium thrives in warm conditions and the fruit bodies appear once the temp drops in the autumn. So if you've had a nice hot spell in your part of the UK, I'd hazard a guess that you'll probably end up with the higher yield if you have a few nice spot's to clear.

Thanks for that! Just googled the Psilocybe strictipes and i saw quite few of those! I thought they were the wannabe liberty caps because the bell doesn't curve inwards. My mate has got a bag full of em.

So the wavy caps aren't native to the UK then? I found a few what looked similar in a wooded area, the small ones looked like normal ones with dark cirlce in middle and lighter round the edge but then the more mature ones started getting waaaavy. A few were being chomped on by slugs who seemed to be having a good time lol. Will try post a pic up later. Does anyone know how strong they are? Couldn't find any liberty caps the lil fuckers are quite hard to find in long grass.
 
I've thrown away soooo many psilocybe strictipes over the years while picking semilanceata, only to realise now that I could have eaten them! At least I'll know for this season! %)
 
Yeah I just thought they were a poisonous lookalike. I know there is another similar looking one that IS poisonous, think you might be able to tell by the colour of the gills and if they bruise blue or something.

i have a feeling its gonna be juuuuuuuuuuuuust fine this year guys ... as long as the field hasnt been eradicated by rain coat wearing, carrier bag clutchin trip fiends .... Walking with the sun behind you is a very good idea by the way ...
 
Has anyone found anything yet? I've checked the field I normally pick in a couple of times and it's still completely barren.
 
^That's because we've had warm dry weather. They come around when it's damp and squelchy everywhere.
 
The weather is changing this week, becoming cooler and wetter, so perhaps the season will start properly in a few days.
I live up in the hills, so finding early libs is something I've come to expect, but this year has been odd. I've been finding a few since june, but rarely more than a few at a time, and then mostly in tight early season locations.
I usually expect by now to be finding them quite extensively, but this year so far has been a series of false starts, for me at least.
 
Honestly, you are SOOOO right! I think in my entire life of shroom eating I've actually BOUGHT shrooms once! They were ground & capped up, so I had no way off ID-ing them. They worked fined. Every other shroom I possessed, I harvested myself or got given them by someone who picked them! I'd happily pay for 'em!

Wow! It's been... I dunno, a decade at least since I explored the possibilties offered by other Psychedelic mushrooms in the UK. I'd guess I came up with about 10 or 12 options other than Semilanceata. That figure as almost doubled since my last researchings! Too cool!

I might've been wary about necking shrooms that I couldn't personally ID, & one does have to be damned close to CERTAIN what fungi one chooses to swallow, but about 10 years ago an old hippy my gf befriended on the interwebs sent us a bag of dried Cyanescens & we had a fucking RIOT on them. I've worked my was through a fair sized selection of different shrooms from different countries & I've always found that Semilanceata & Cyanescens brought that most uplifting, bright, shiny, happy, hysterically hilarious trips. I've wondered if the concentration of Baeocystin in these particular mushrooms brings this type of trip... but I've had smarter people than I scoff at my baseless assumptions (many believe that Beaocystin has no action in humans). Still, I found the Mexican & Columbian fungus to bring a much deeper, introspective trip, as have other species that I've come across but couldn't name now, I forgotten.

As for weather, spent a bit of time outdoors over the weekend &, obviously kept my eye out, but I felt that the ground generally appeared too dry. This is in the South East of the UK. I suspect warm & wet weather will improve the chances of finding some of our wonderful little Liberty Caps.
 
So whilst taking a bit of a spill of my mountain bike there a about a year ago i found a biiiiiig fucking colony of Fly argarics ... I didnt and still dont know the proper way to take em so i left them be as i didnt wanna go rippin up the beauty's if it was all in vein ..
I reckon they'll still be there this year so i might give em a look ...
Any one ever done them ?

Can you not get hold of any 4-aco-dmt? Its the prodrug of psilocyn or something like that
 
Mate (literally a mate, as in not me, I won't touch them after my last freakout) got 60 in about 20 mins. They're out there!
