I thought I was well educated about drugs too and when my parents began asking me about my drug use, after I'd gotten cocky and began smoking weed in the house, I had the best rebuttal in the world: Parents: Do you smoke pot? Me: Do you?
That being said, it was the last time my parents showed any real concern for me and my drug use until I began getting prescribed vicodin for my chronic pain problem. They made the doctor get me off that and it was almost certainly for the best. I just wish they didn't let me smoke cigarettes or get high all of the time because both eventually began affecting my social, mental and physical health in ways I didn't anticipate. Your dad is a crackhead and is speaking from experience. I don't agree with the way they are going about it but they are trying to get you to realize that no one who begins using drugs anticipates OD'ing or becoming addicted.
