I cannot say I prefer the truth but I don't think anybody likes getting lied to when they realize it.
I find a large amount of my social interactions with people who aren't my closest friend, I would loathe acknowledging the unspoken things; the power imbalance or the times each of us have slighted each other yet the other cheek is turned. These are lies of omission, and I feel they lubericate the wheels of socialization, unless an extreme trust is shared, and they become hinderances.
