Do people perceive you the way you actually are?

I'd say no as the aspects of my personality that shine through are usually my stupidly carefree party habits and stupid banter. This causes most people unless spending much time with them to think I'm just some nice, dumb, harmless punter.
Any of my good friends however hold a vastly different view however that I'm a vindictive calculating prick to anyone who is one to me without regard for how it will reflect on me plus a lazy fool squandering his mental abilities in exchange for having fun.
The first view shines through because I'm incredibly impulsive and don't think things through so it's not a wonder thats the side of me that most people see.

...I think every human just about could be as great as the greatest or as horrible as the most horrible if circumstances were different. We are all known within a social context in a particular state. We get glimpses of self and each other. The glimpses are all probably true enough but change things around a person profoundly enough for long enough and we will be glimpsing something very different.

I agree with this completely.

...great points and oh so true.

^Agreed.

I don't know how people see me.
I think IRL people might think I'm a little bitchy or snotty.
I tend to be pretty quiet until I get to know someone.
Once I open up,I will talk about one thing and then something completely different, which comes off a little scattered and I think people mistake that for ditziness.

Unfortunately you are what everybody else thinks you are. If every one thinks you are a wanker it doesn't matter what you personally perceive you are, you are a wanker. It is impossible to be subjective when judging yourself. Sure a single individual may get the wrong impression but you are they one projecting this. The best guess is from someone elses prospective.

'm sure that they see me as aggressive and arrogant but a pretty cool guy. I come off how I am and I'm straight forward about most everything. I hope they do see me as I am.
